Well people can change their minds.

Several years ago I wanted a GTO, but whilst looking I thought no, it's got to be a 400SE after all. But then I decided no, I will get that Chimaera (which I did).

Firstly, thank you to all the people who have actually helped.

To everyone else, I do not have to prove my funds. All you need to know is that the money is there and I want to spend it on the right car.

I have worked hard for it all for as long as I can. I have also lost a few close family members and been given some money that way.
Just because I have been out of work recently it does not mean I am unable to treat my self now. I work long days all week because I want to be able to add to my savings. I earn a very good amount each week in my new job and this has also helped boost my savings.
And yes, I have been unsure what car to buy in the past, but as stated my circumstances have now changed and my budget has dramatically increased because of this.

Now, if we could get the topic back on track that would be great...

If you have a problem with me, my choice in thread, my indecision on what to spend MY hard earned money on, that's fine, we are all entitled to opinions, this does not however mean that they have to be shared at every given chance..
Sodding keyboard warriors nit picking all the time. Ruins a good site!

And the 'school holidays' remark, really?
If you need to know, I have not been in full time education since I was 19, I decided that getting a job was the way forward and would allow me to earn money faster, so that one day i could go out and buy a nice pretty car at a fairly young age..

I also have no children, nor massive bills like a mortgage etc.. So all my money gets spent on me.
I have no doubt that this will change one day, but while ever my life is this trouble free I'm going to enjoy it.

This is the reason I put this thread off for so long, people seem to have a problem with young people having money!

Anyway, this is a genuine thread asking a genuine question and has been answered, I'm off to view an Aston this weekend.

Bring on het more nit picking, and pointless comments.. Undoubtedly from some over worked, under appreciated, unhappily married, father with a beige Nissan who dreams of the day he can go out and do what I'm doing now...

Rant over... 0/10 etc

This.. People change their minds, circumstances change...

I bought the jaguar and loved it, but sadly the body stared to go down hill so I moved it on.
After a little more research I didn't bother with the range rover..

Still looking into TVRs

Why I'm justifying my self I really don't know

Believe me, don't believe me it's entirely up to you lot, but keep your useless comments to your self.

Sorry, that last bit wasn't really for you..
Just very frustrating. I try to get advice and to start with I do, but it always ends up going down hill, with the usually suspects and their 'funny' comments..
Same sort of thing I get at showrooms tbh.. I don't really know why I bother asking.

I'll just go and do my own research from now on.

Anyway, thanks everyone I'll keep you who are genuinely helpful informed of my choice.

I don't think there's any keyboard warriors here. You came on here looking for advice.
People went out of their way to give you advice.

Then you were found out.

What do you expect us to say? The majority of people on this forum are genuine, and when you are not genuine and try to bull st people you lose all respect and face.

You can't bs your way out of this now. I would have far more respect for you if you told the truth and asked what car for whatever price you really can afford. Even a 500 quid banger.

Its not hard to look back at your history over the last year to see that most of what you've said has to be taken with a large pinch of salt.

I'm sorry son. This is planet earth.

Nobody has a problem with young people having money. There are plenty of young guys on here who really have got money. I used to see them regularly on PH runs, TVR runs etc..

You on the other hand posted this just a few months ago;

does anybody know where the best place is to look for work in Doncaster and surrounding areas?

I have exhausted the internet now, I spend 5+ hours a day looking.
Due to the stupidly high prices, and the lack of income I cant really get out to look for work.

I do have a full license but sadly I don't have a car at the moment.
One minute you're looking for advice because you're an unemployed check out assistant, so skint that you can't afford to go out to look for a job, the next you're looking for more advice as you're looking to buy an old Scooby for a few grand because you can't afford the nicer version and now a few months later you want more advice on whether to go for the Aston or the Jag! rofl

Get a life son.

As said. I'm not justifying my life to people like you.
I know what I can and cannot afford.

I'm not denying my history. Far from it. But that's the past.
That's when I couldn't justify a nicer car, times change...
Stop calling me son, only my parents have that right

OP, when/if you do get your new car can you please post a custard photo?

Not saying I don't believe you but it'd be nice to see!

OP I'd be interested to hear what you do for a living - unemployed in July and buying £40k sports cars aged 23 the next April is quite a jump, and your previous posts have all been quite light on detail - answer that and perhaps people will be a little less sceptical.

And, my 2p, aged 23 don't blow £40k on a car unless you're earning North of £100k - buy a house instead. A car will NOT get you laid. This is a fact, nor will you enjoy it as much as a nice pad and a £20k car. You can buy a lot of car for 20 large still.

This.

Unless you are truly minted put your money into a house, as he says £20k can get you one hell of a car, and as it seems you like to change cars frequently, you won't lose as much in depreciation.

Sounds boring but it's what I'd do if I had that money at your age.

Having read through it just seems like the OP has found a well paying job and has come through some/alot of money by way of inheritance. Doesn't seem that far fetched to me or am I missing something?

I'd like to add that unless you have some really dodgy priorities you're going to need a long way north of £100k/year to go from skint to £40k car in less than a year. £100k doesn't go that far as a balanced lifestyle.

Also, I struggle to believe this is earned money. If it's inherited then fine, but a bit dim IMHO. I work in one of the best paid industries and although £100k+ is easy to achieve in it, nobody on Earth can go from unskilled/unemployed to those sorts of rates in that timescale.

Indeed. Though I'm guessing that you are down South - the OP is in Doncaster. £100k would actually buy Doncaster itself.
If the OP has inherited a house and £40k in cash, great, but why would he suddenly 'not mind a bit of finance'. Does all seem a bit odd. I'm sure the OP will be along presently either to tell everybody to fk off, or to explain. I'm expecting the former sadly. Probably after 5pm though, as he drives a van for work, so probably isn't at his PC 'til later.

The OP is a dreamer, and there's nothing wrong with that. We all like to dream. Without dreams we would never achieve our goals.
After reading the previous OP's, then this one, nothing adds up.
I dont go delving into other peoples old posts, but this has been done.

I'm a manager in the oil business and I wouldnt dream of spunking 40k on a car, unless it was something I had an obsession with.

When I was 24 I had just started in the industry, my first 'big' purchase was a 5k quid integrale.

All is forgiven OP, just don't lie and people will help you, it's in our nature.

Fortunately for my disposable income I'm in Aberdeenshire, so the cost of living is much lower than in the SE England. However, that sort of money is not available to new starts dragged in off the street. Even a graduate in oil & gas (typically a Masters Degree to stand a chance these days now there are so many graduates) will be lucky to see north of £35k/year which isn't that much after tax, when considered in the context of finance repayments on a £40k car. Even at that, most Masters graduates aren't on the internet asking for jobs on car forums.

It could all be inheritence money, but let's face it, most relatives would be fairly disappointed to see their parting gift spunked on a flash car.
