OP, I'm based south Manchester but we've an F-Type R Coupe coming in for trials on 24th-29th this month. Might be out of your budget for 12 months or so but ping me a PM if you fancy coming for a nose about.
If I can get the time off from work I'll pop over! I'd love to have a go in one, but my local dealer seems very reluctant to let me

Thanks for all the great advice guys.

This weekend ongoing to go over to Aston Martin in Leeds to have a look at the AM V8V and if they have one, a DB9
I'm also going to attempt to get a test drive in the ftype coupe. Obviously it's out of my price range, but I don't mind a little finance..

I think I'll have a clearer idea of what I want after doing this.

I also want to have a look at a TVR, both a Tuscan and a Cerbera, because if longed for one for quite a while but never been in a position to buy one and run it as an everyday car (no previous company car)

I have discounted a Ferrari purely on the Cost of repairs if (when) it's decides it doesn't want to work any more.

Just to add, an V8V went rumbling past me today in the high street of a very old and tight town, it put a massive smile on my face and my heart skipped a little

I bought the scooby and sold it with in a month. As fast as it was I just didn't enjoy driving it.
I didn't make a loss on the car and put the money straight back into my savings.

Iv had various jobs since I was 16 and have been saving since my very first pay cheque I was going to use the money to buy a house, but a change in circumstances means I no longer need such a big deposit.

The past fee months in my new job have really boosted my savings, hence being able to afford something a little more expensive then my last cars.

Firstly, thank you to all the people who have actually helped.

To everyone else, I do not have to prove my funds. All you need to know is that the money is there and I want to spend it on the right car.

I have worked hard for it all for as long as I can. I have also lost a few close family members and been given some money that way.
Just because I have been out of work recently it does not mean I am unable to treat my self now. I work long days all week because I want to be able to add to my savings. I earn a very good amount each week in my new job and this has also helped boost my savings.
And yes, I have been unsure what car to buy in the past, but as stated my circumstances have now changed and my budget has dramatically increased because of this.

Now, if we could get the topic back on track that would be great...

If you have a problem with me, my choice in thread, my indecision on what to spend MY hard earned money on, that's fine, we are all entitled to opinions, this does not however mean that they have to be shared at every given chance..
Sodding keyboard warriors nit picking all the time. Ruins a good site!

And the 'school holidays' remark, really?
If you need to know, I have not been in full time education since I was 19, I decided that getting a job was the way forward and would allow me to earn money faster, so that one day i could go out and buy a nice pretty car at a fairly young age..

I also have no children, nor massive bills like a mortgage etc.. So all my money gets spent on me.
I have no doubt that this will change one day, but while ever my life is this trouble free I'm going to enjoy it.

This is the reason I put this thread off for so long, people seem to have a problem with young people having money!

Anyway, this is a genuine thread asking a genuine question and has been answered, I'm off to view an Aston this weekend.

Bring on het more nit picking, and pointless comments.. Undoubtedly from some over worked, under appreciated, unhappily married, father with a beige Nissan who dreams of the day he can go out and do what I'm doing now...

Rant over... 0/10 etc

Hes an interesting chap from what I can see in the last year he's been after a Jaguar XKR, Range Rover and a TVR.

I take it these never happened?
Well people can change their minds.

Several years ago I wanted a GTO, but whilst looking I thought no, it's got to be a 400SE after all. But then I decided no, I will get that Chimaera (which I did).
This.. People change their minds, circumstances change...

I bought the jaguar and loved it, but sadly the body stared to go down hill so I moved it on.
After a little more research I didn't bother with the range rover..

Still looking into TVRs

Why I'm justifying my self I really don't know

Believe me, don't believe me it's entirely up to you lot, but keep your useless comments to your self.

I called you an interesting chap, hardly an insult.
Sorry, that last bit wasn't really for you..
Just very frustrating. I try to get advice and to start with I do, but it always ends up going down hill, with the usually suspects and their 'funny' comments..
Same sort of thing I get at showrooms tbh.. I don't really know why I bother asking.

I'll just go and do my own research from now on.

Anyway, thanks everyone I'll keep you who are genuinely helpful informed of my choice.

As said. I'm not justifying my life to people like you.
I know what I can and cannot afford.

I'm not denying my history. Far from it. But that's the past.
That's when I couldn't justify a nicer car, times change...
Stop calling me son, only my parents have that right

I have been meaning to update this, but after reading the last few bitter and pointless comments I don't see the point.

If you must know:
I have been saving for over 7 years.
Yes I have been unemployed for a while, that has very little to do with my current situation though.
I received a large inheritance a few years ago, but instead of blowing it away I saved it.

I am now a telecom engineer and earn a not inconsiderable amount, and it's a damn site more then most lads my age, and a lot more then what Iv previously earned, hence my savings have increased a lot recently. After being able to live on 1/4 of what I earn now I find saving very easy.

I don't drink
I don't do drugs

My one and only passion is cars, so why shouldn't I drive something nice?

Just because my early 20s has been littered with difficult times it does not mean I can't afford to indulge my self in high end motors!

I can't force you to believe me, and to be perfectly honest I don't need too. The only thing that matters is I know I have the means to treat my self.

I expected this sort of backlash to be honest with you, and that's why i put it off for so long..

To the many who have been truly helpful I thank you, it's been useful over the last couple of weeks and has brought to light some cars I'd not even thought about.

When I make my final choice and buy something I'll let you all know, custard included if you insist.

Indeed.

Do be aware you may also encounter difficulties with some dealers who will not take you seriously. Been there and bought the T-shirt on that one.
I agree. I have taken to phoning a head now to make sure the car is available for viewing and a possible test drive.

I have come across one or two that just make excuses but it's to be expected. If they can afford to to walk away from a potential buyer of any age then that is up to them, I'll go elsewhere.

Haha! The drink is tempting to be honest, especially after this week!
