So it had been there since last night? Very sad. I've often wondered who'd know if I crashed my car late at night .. I know there are systems now (BMW for example) which automatically call emergency services if the car is involved in a collision, but don't think any of them work in this country yet.

Jeez, that's terrible. I can echo the sentiments of 'what if..'. Hope they didn't suffer.

Yes, there's a lovely road right throught the middle of the park, forget its number. Very sad news, and I do hope our PH Porsche drivers are all safe today.

edited to say, I think this came out sounding wrong, it's very sad whether those who lost their lives were PHers or not.

Very sad.

I think the speed limit is actually 50 through the park.

Location was between Rangers Gate and the Peanut Roundabout travelling from Windsor towards Ascot.

Up the hill past Rangers Gate is a slight right hand bend with a pink coloured house on the right hand side of the road. Porsche failed to negotiate the right hander, across 30 meters of verge into a large oak tree. Limit is 50mph!

Ditto, worth repeating.

It is tragic to hear of anyone losing their life at the wheel, but having said that, isn't the 911 one of the safest machines you can have a prang in?

I used to live on an A-road with fast, twisting bends (many lost it on those bends, including myself I hate to admit - £2,000 suspension damage...). On this road an Army barracks was based that had been bombed by the IRA. In response to the bombing the MOD fitted 15ft high 1" thick iron railings around the whole complex. One night I witnessed a 911 take out about 20ft worth of the railing, and was flabbergasted to see the driver walk away - the 911 was totalled obviously, but my suspicion is that the result could / would have been very different in a front-engined car, particularly one without multiple skins of German steel.

My dad told me about this as one of the people involved was a colleague of his.

The car wasn't stolen, by the way - It was just a spot of unfortunate driving by the sounds of it.
