My dad had a boy racer following him to close in heavy snow through some lanes near us many years ago. Not happy with it he waved him through. It was a young lad in a 5 turbo. He came through on the limiter, dump valve, snow being thrown everywhere. He was going well.... Until he stuffed an oak tree on the next sharp bend. The tree won.

There's only one corner like that on the A303, think I know exactly where you mean.
Yeah, if you know the road, you know that bend. It was a righty for him (and me), so I guess he'd given it the beans down the hill and just not had the brakes come crunch time (if you'll excuse the pun).

Simon.
I know that one as well - always take it easy there, especially as there's a perfect overtaking spot soon after

The multiple cars being tugged by Police on Mile End Road, East London in organised vehicle check.

Typically for the area they were mostly new German cars, driven by what appeared to be 12 year olds with bad hair cuts. Probably hired or carrying drugs.

But we did laugh quite a lot

Couple of years ago, in the snow, I was clearing the road outside my place with some neighbours - private road, no gritting, on a big hill. Everyone normally gets together and helps a bit. One guy jumps in his big new Jeep Cherokee thing and roars off up the hill, saying out the window "Much easier in a 4x4 chaps" or something equally droll - I forget exactly what.

3 hours later, he sheepishly drives back down the hill, missing his front wheelarch, headlight, part of the bumper and wing mirror. Don't know what happened to cause it but he had a go at repairing it himself before it got taken to a proper bodyshop, so I'm thinking he pranged it himself.

Lol.
People forget a 4x4 will give you more traction to get going but does nothing to help stopping.

Many years ago I was on Hagley Road in Birmingham approaching the Bearwood Road junction when an original Pug 205 GTI came flying past me in the right hand lane and swerved into my lane lost control and after over correcting side to side skidding finally spun passenger side into a lamp post. I carried on past and parked up were I was staying nearby before walking back to the scene taking perhaps 5-10 minutes. None of the emergency services had yet arrived and the youth inside was quite literally wailing for his "mummy".

He was very lucky the car hit passenger side on because it was so wrapped around the lampost any passenger would have had their legs amputated by the lampost.

I've seen it in Ilford quite a lot too and the cars with no insurance, tax , licence etc always turn out to be the flash Mercs, BMWs and Audis being driven by young lads.

I didn't think he is going to have an accident, but some muppet in a Rover 25, might have been an MG ZR, not sure, leaving our close way to fast for the fresh fall of snow. I was doing ~10mph, he was probably nearer double that, tried to turn off the main road out of the village on a side road, slide into the kerb and smashed an alloy.

I chuckled.

I buckled an alloy by leaning out of the drivers window of my MG ZR looking down to check out how cool my neon ground kit looked lighting up the freshly fallen snow. Saw the corner coming too late and too fast and understeered straight into the curb with a massive bang. Sheer luck there was no parked car to collide with.

My mate, doing the same on the other side of the car, hadn't seen it coming either.

I kind of wish I had it on video.

I thought the same, but the chap I spotted didn't have neons.

hehe

Nice screen name. I not sure I want to know what you do for a living...

I've always assumed these cars are twocced or hired. Mainly by the number that swell around a certain festival end.

Even seen a Rolls Royce Phantom been driven like charab by those kids.

few years ago I was out wasting petrol on my old 2 stroke scooter, now this moped was very tatty looking but had 28 bhp 172cc 2 stroke in it,looked like would top out 35mph,but could actually touch 105 verified by a mate following in a punto.anyway one night a scruffy looking classic shape non turbo impreza decided he could take my L plate equipped moped between 2 sets of lights.not only did his Subaru get outdragged upto about 80!he got pulled mid race as went through second set of lights which were green doing about 85mph. I rode through some bollards and went home.note t'weren't big,nor clever.

On the bike, specs zone. Overtaking a boy racer who thinks they should go faster to prove how fast they are. Well, firstly my bike is way faster... But that wasn't the fun bit. The fun bit was teasing it to get up to +30mph for most of the distance between gantries. Then pointing at the yellow vulture hovering about, just yards away. I saw him lock up. I turned the handle and got out of dodge. Unlucky pal, you never had a chance on any level.

forgot to say about t5 patrol car at t junction of second lights which we both passed doing probably three times road limit(30) and both clearly racing.impreza guy backed right off as he saw t5 which point I just carried on full speed till saw some bollards,oh and luckily noticed when putting bike away that l plate had blown upwards to obscure reg plate.

Have we had that guy on here who was always on about oversteer and drifting and how he was the king of driving? He bought a 106 GTi and told everyone how fantastic he was at lift off oversteer in it. He was back the next week telling everyone the car was crap because he crashed it.

That was BadBanshee. Made such a song and dance of getting that 106 GTi and how amazing it was at oversteering, before promptly crashing it. I think he also blamed a particular roundabout for the crash. Soon afterwards, he was asking about which RWD car to get as he wanted to really get into RWD drifting and oversteer. I recall I advised him to calm down.

A few years ago in the middle of a snowy winter, heading west down Hartside Pass, some gimp in a mid range BMW 3 series was far to close behind me, flashing his lights to get past. So I did my best to let him past. A little way further down the hill there he is nose first in a ditch. Anyway I stopped to make sure he was OK. Anyway he was still a gimp, and he had the nerve to ask me to give him a lift back to Alston. I pointed out it was his own stupidity which had put him in the ditch, so he could just walk back.
Was that about 1/2 way down by the hairpins?
There were a few gimps there a few weeks ago, one narrowly missed going through the wire fence in the snow.

Italjet Dragster 180 with the (faster) 172 kit?

I borrowed one of those once and a friend of mine got an indicated 98mph through Lightcliffe. A bloke at some traffic lights pointed out to my friend that there were flames coming out of the exhaust. It was nuts, so my friend told me.

did almost a carbon copy of this very thing....back in 1988 very pretty blonde in a very short skirt, failed to see a slowing white xr3 in front and rode straight into it frown

Back when I used to live on the IOW there was a moron in a chav tat MR2 base Ferrari "replica" - exactly how you imagine it

Don't think I ever saw it being driven normally, even attempting to drift in the town centre at traffic lights while I was working in the road, total disregard for anybody else on the road...

In short, utter nob-end

Not much of a surprise that within a few months of it appearing it was parked up with a smashed windscreen and a "Police Aware" sticker - I feared the worst, that he'd finally taken out a pedestrian (a child even as it was outside a primary school)

Turned out to be far more satisfying, someone who had presumably had enough of his antics had lobbed a paving slab through the screen as he sped past - normally wouldn't condone anything like that behaviour but this guy deserved everything he got
