I was actually planning on buying a mega low mile Evo 9 from Japan but couldn't shift my BRZ. Ended up doing a part ex which was a decent offer in the end. Not gone for any significant options really - the aftermarket can offer better kit for less money. More power, winter wheels, rear camera/sensors and possibly softer suspension on the list.Hope it's good! Bit nervous of the EJ25 but we won't get the EJ20 ever, I don't think. FA20 may come along but I'm not a fan of EPAS at all.

In reality by the time you've spec'd the S3 to anywhere near the Sti and got a discount from Subaru you would be looking at a 8k plus price difference.
for a 3 door hatch, the saloon is the comparable car.

for a 3 door hatch, the saloon is the comparable car.
Somebody in the market for a new fast road car with reasonable comfort and running costs will be looking at an S3 hatch and a WRX STI as competitors. To suggest they'll simply look past the S3 as it is a hatch is moronic.

You brought up the S3 so what's the issue...?Most of the current hatches are so large that there's not much difference to smaller salloons in load capacity, only the aperture is constrained. Hardly night and day differences!

They may well look at the S3 hatch, the might even look at a Focus, the might even look at an S4,an AMG A45...but that's not the point is it? Audi's variant of the small AWD, FI saloon is available for 4k more with no options, very simple.
