I'd like to see it be sold by Toyota dealers with a selection of 10 different rim styles, all looking good. Not sure it needs a facelift, the only thing I'd change is the wheels.
In Japan it's sold with cheap steel wheels so people can pick their own after-market ones. Not sure why they didn't do that here too.

Everyone knows what they need to do, turbo/super charge it.
Ffs everyone moans when BMW turbo charge a car and moan about how they want a NA Screamer and Toyota gives you it and all you do is moan that you want a turbo.

Car companies can't win.

near the end of the model's life probably, to re-inject some excitement.
Yeah, to boost sales up to 370Z levels.
Has to make a good proposition for trading in my 370 against one of these. The running costs as a second car would be a lot better.

I wonder how many current owners will moan that they're not getting the upgrades? wink
I only got my car last week so ordinarily I would feel rather sad, but seeing as how minimal these updates appear to be, I don't care. The wheels are still a bit fussy-looking and the rest of the mods can be done aftermarket. I suppose if they make a major change to the interior but unlikely from the article.

Oh well, bring on the new RX7 Mazda. I eagerly await.

I was just going to post this but you beat me to it biggrin

Every news article is instantly replied to with one or more of:
Too slow, too heavy, too high CO2, too low mpg, too expensive, NEDC mpg won't be achieved in real world etc etc rolleyes

I would assume it's different people doing the moaning. smile

Personally, I think the GT86 is about right, engine-wise. Stick a turbocharger on it, and I'd have no interest whatsoever. Shame about the electric PAS, though.

I think the steering feels pretty good tbh, it handles very well, although the ride can be a little harsh on the Uk billiard table roads smile. It really doesn't need a turbo, the engine revs it's nuts off. Its a fun car to drive. Totally docile in town, decent boot. Motorway steady driving gets around 35-40 mpg. Looks good, the rear end looks awesome, but then I am a bum man smile

I like the wheels being black, as it doesn't show brake dust and they are pi-ss easy to keep clean.
First thing we did when we bought ours, was to visit toys r us and buy a lego car kit, the rubber wheels fit nicely around the crappily small audio knobs, and look cool as well.

It looks near Supra proportions but goes like a medium warm hatch..

There's all kinds of arguments on whether it really 'needs' more power but IMO it still appears a mis-match.
Near GT looks but with 'buzzy' performance. Regardless of whether it is 'right' or not but if they added Impreza power, I feel it would sell far far more.

Impreza performance (but keep RWD) + Stylish GT looks = a great combination.

How was it even possible for Toyota to find some even worse wheels to put on as standard, I didn't even know BBS did such horrible designs.

It would have been far easier for Toyota to have got some BBS CH

or some Speedlines

The market is power mad.

2013 Golf GTi has double the power of the original and more than the original Sierra Cosworth.
Merc, Audi, BMW etc have been pushing power up into the stratosphere for years.

But as demonstrated by the bleetings on about fast audis, power doesn't mean fun.

This car is the morden day mx5 thst everyone on here seems so keen to jizz themselfs over, simple and people say they want simple but then they buy a m135i which ironically they don't moan about being a forced induction BMW which on any other BMW is the devils work

Certainly seems to be quite a few up for sale in Autotrader and dealerships across the country but here in Northants I've seen hardly any on the road. I think I've seen only two this year!

There's a few around here. Two on my little estate cul-de-sac thing (about 100 houses) that I know of.

I think power to weight matters more than power until the top speed gear is reached. Everybody in the world knows this, except Clarkson. biggrin
I think if you are looking at turbo hatches and then you get into a GT86/BRZ a 2.0L NA is going to feel a bit slow. However if you've just come from an automatic 1.0 Polo they are all going to feel like F1 cars. biggrin
I think it's important not to have a fact that becomes a reason not to buy or criticise a car. This is partly why manufacturers push higher power along with increased weight and turbo petrols make much more power per litre.

For me the GT86 is like a really tough computer game and playing it without any cheats. You have to work hard at it but it's ultimately hugely rewarding.

A Golf R or S3 is like Farmville. Every ahole in the world seems to have it but it's just pointlessly clicking on stuff to achieve nothing.

Too many exhaust tips for the power. hehe
Not wrong, that is like 1 pipe per 50 odd horsepower, or 1 pipe per cylinder. Either way it is just wrong, like the neds that stick extra tips at the back of their hot hatch.

EU should make some (useful) laws about excessive exhaust pipe tips!
laughyes After that level of attention to detail re. the chassis, engine, setup etc. why spoil it with silly details like those exhausts and that spoiler? Thankfully both can be dealt with and that conveniently brings me to my next point...that others have completely missed the point of this car...which would be blatantly obvious if you knew anything about it's predecessor.

It's. A. Template. - You get a great base car with a fantastic layout for a low price (though the exchange rate doesn't help us Brits), with low tax etc. then you can go mental, turning it into a fire breathing, supercar slaying monster or a stripped-out, lightweight track/drift special if you want...or just enjoy it as it is.

In many cases, the first owner is just running it in and subsidising everyone else's fun. wink

Well, in context it's 10% more power.......but 15% more weight to lug around to be fair
