Show us your single garage (wall art)
Discussion
So i recently bought my first ever house, and have gone from st offroad parking, to a driveway and my very own garage, happy days!
Also, having a garage means i can finally get the Tvr chimaera i've been wanting for years now, and am hoping to get one this summer.
I've started doing the garage up a little bit, as it didn't look nice, but i could do with some idea's for on the walls, so please show me what your single garage looks like.
I'm a big fan of the "who's got the best garage on PH" thread, but most of them are massive 3 - 4 car garages owned by people with much bigger wallets then me, so can't really use that thead.
This was how the garage looked before moving in :
It was used for bikes by the previous owner who'd put in all the kitchen cupboard. I've taken the side ones out, and painted the walls and ceiling white.
My scale models, which i couldn't display in our flat, have come out of the loft and can finally be on show again, and i've also found this big TVR sign on ebay which i've put up :
But as you can see there's still a lot of space on the walls. Now i was either thinking some picture frames with cars i've owned, and with some shots from pistonheads hoons/meets etc, or maybe some big car posters, or some car related signs etc, so please show us what you've got on the walls of your single garage.

I dread to post mine its an absolute st hole lol.
Same here. Breeze blocks and dust everywhere, tins of paint and various mechanical and tool stuff stacked on teetering shelving units, wheels stacked on top of each other, a broken plexiglass windows, 6 ft high ceiling meaning I need to stoop everywhere, around 6 inches between car and wall, spider webs everywhere, polystyrene glued to the wall to avoid door dings......but it has a 993 wedged in there somewhere.
Frances, how did you paint that on? What did you use as a template? It looks great!
Here is my effort so far. I first jet washed it all out and left to dry over a week with the door up as it was a right state (it's only three years old, but I have no idea what the people I bought the house from had been doing in there!). Painting it took hours and cost ~£60 for 15L of Wickes white masonry paint and a couple of brushes. It's so much brighter in there now the walls are done, but now my thoughts have turned to the flooring! I've seen these Mototiles and they look awesome and are of excellent quality, but they're very expensive at about £450. To be honest I think I'll still go for them over paint or cheaper tiles as I just want them.
Next I'm going to smash off the lumps of cement on the concrete floor that the sloppy builders dropped and then seal it to stop the dust for the moment until I've 100% made my mind up for the permanent floor covering. I'll also paint the leading edge as you go in with a grey garage floor paint as obviously the tiles can't protrude outside! After that, it's just hanging pictures and general little bits.
Excuse all of the st - I need to also buy a shed and put all of that stuff in there!

Garage space is always a sore point for us petrolheads! When we moved house a couple of years ago we missed out on 2 houses with double garages. In the end we (I) compromised on a single garage with no room to extend... :? ..... so no chance of any fun weekend car as nowhere to put it. To make a point I insist on the garage being 'a garage!'. It's nearing completion and this is what I've come up with. Bikes are the new passion, can fit quite a few in there.
If you're wondering we live at number 23...

Thanks!I found the image I wanted to use, vectorised it to increase it to the a more usable size and give me flexible zooming options then borrowed a projector from work to beam the image onto the wall.
I used a pencil to mark the outline to make sure it was correct, then painted it. Took about 2 hours all in.

Most UK single garages are far too small to be useful beyond storage/shed duties IMO
My experience as well! Just moved into a place with a detached single garage with power, and really it's just a big mancave/workshop with an up and over door. All the work is still outside, but you can bring the broken bits inside to work on 'em! Jester27 said:

Like that. Just as a garage should be; a place for everything and everything in it's place. A concept my missus has never heard of. If you're wondering we live at number 23...

can you not build down the way and use a ramp or out front. If you're wondering we live at number 23...
Unfortunately not. Path down the side of the house to one side, utility to the rear, kitchen to the other side, son's bedroom above, and driveway to the front.
this was taken last year, gives a better view of the layout.
The driveway is the only possibility but it will not suit the house. Also I need width not length, so I can build a GT40 kit with enough space to get around comfortably during build and even after. I need a double garage!
It's OK, cycling is saving me a load of money! :-s
