New toy syndrome.
Golf R; very accomplished hatchback.
M135i; junior (very junior) supercar.
As the wife says, they are a completely different class of car that happens to have a similar style boot.
A 135i is a very nice car, that is very fast for the class, but come on, Supercars do not have a four seats and a rear hatch, few supercars share a bodyshell with 1.6 petrol and diesel variants in the same range.Golf R; very accomplished hatchback.

The M135i is a great car but I am not the best driver, I do wonder if 4wd will be more all usable all season!
If you're not a very good driver, have you considered buying something which isn't the very pinnacle of the range, and extremely quick to boot? This is a good point.
Maybe invest in some getting some advanced driving skills and then make your mind up

Well it's quicker than many near supercars/seriously quick saloons of recent years, it has a turbo'd 6 pot engine and it's not a bloody 4 pot.
So easy to get PHers knickers in a twist. Lighten up geeks.
Come on, you knew when you posted that it would get pounced on.So easy to get PHers knickers in a twist. Lighten up geeks.
The definition of Supercar is nebulous at best but there are some rules.

To be honest it is a case of new toy syndrome over anything else, but no one seems to think I'm to mad moving from one to the other, must be ok then!
Anyone any experience in the manual?
Only a Mk. VII GTi in manual - the R I drove was a DSG. However, I imagine it's the same box? If so - it's perfectly fine. Nothing exceptional in honesty, but fine all the same. So much more engaging than the DSG.Anyone any experience in the manual?
Harlow VW has/had a DSG demo in, and Chemlsford has/had a manual in the showroom, though not to drive when I was there.

Ok two points no it's not quicker than ANY super car or seriously quick saloons (unless a diesel modeo is seriously quick)of recent years and in response to geeks you are clearly an idiot. So easy to get PHers knickers in a twist. Lighten up geeks.
Just because you own one is not a reason to try and elevate their status,

The Diesel Modeo is seriously quick compared to the 1990's.Just because you own one is not a reason to try and elevate their status,
The 135i is no way a "mini supercar" It's more nipping at the heels of sports cars (Boxster and 370z come to mind) Not the likes of an RS4 or an M3. Why would BMW make a 1 series costing 30k better than the ultimate 3 series costing over 50k?
The Golf R can be compared to an A45 AMG as it's closer, like for like rival. (ignore costs for a moment) They're a breed of ultra hot-hatch which I at least hope is around to stay, just with a few more Manual Gearbox's as options.
Just my pennies worth.
I agree - the more choice the punter has, the better it is for all of us - it pushes the game on, and gives us all choice. I'm planning a Golf R and a Lotus Elise for next year - great little garage I reckon, and like a cut-price version of the RS6 and GT3 garage I would (one day) like to have.
