Looks absolute garbage.

Can they not design a system to directly replace the one already installed?

Plus why would you need a stereo with that soundtrack!

Indeed. But by sticking their head up and showing it for all to see, and even suckering PH staff into promoting it, means that we are perfectly entitled to offer our opinion.

They can't hype it up without also expecting feedback - good or bad.

I bet they didn't expect such a wave of negativity though ! smile

In all my life I have never seen someone quite so angry that some people don't like a Ferrari optional extra.
I'll bet your wife is in for a hell of a night tonight.

point well made, but not a very good one in my opinion.

Why? Because from Ferrari and for the price should you not expect something of decent quality and aesthetics?

The forum is a medium for people to express their opinions, especially when responding to a questionable piece of promotion such as this, put your handbag down dear.

Clearly you are of the opinion that no one should have an opinion if it's negative? Good one.

There are better things to get wound up about....

Perhaps we're just not their target audience? I'm sure this guy thinks it looks fantastic...

Hilarious.

68 posts before me - none of them positive, some of them rude (but not wrong) and not a whisper from PH. Do you have anything to say in your own defence?

I had to check it hadn't "Groundhog Day"-ed back to April 1st.

I'm sure they're probably bound and gagged with Maranello branded sellotape (red of course)...

Ferrari are to offer owners of its existing cars an officially approved upgrade path.

Engines

Owners of 12 cylinder models made since 2006 can have the electronic fuel ignition replaced by a shiny carburetter. This can be fitted by any Ferrari approved dealer and takes less than 4 weeks to fit at a cost of £25,000.

Brakes

A new kit has been developed in conjunction with ACME that replaces the carbon ceramic brakes on the company's 430 and 458 models with drums made from pig iron and rust. This option is offered for £3995 with a corresponding reduction in warranty.

Transmission

Ferrari now offer the option of a manual 4 speed to be retrofitted to F1 transmission models. This dog-leg box is designed to precisely mimic the useability and reliability of the company's 1978 line up, providing realistic repair bills with the peace of mind that comes from knowing your Ferrari costs more in break downs than your mistress. A snip at £34,000 nearly fitted.

Fuel

In line with customer expectations, all Ferrari owners can now visit approved dealers and have their engines modified to accept only 4 star fuel. Ferrari provide this chance to be part of history at no extra charge (plus VAT of £55,000)

The whole article reads like an advertisement - I find it really hard to believe PH felt the need to spend a paragraph touting the abilities of a generic Sat nav?

I'm not trolling; this feels lifted from a marketers pamphlet. "In 10 seconds I got my Bluetooth connected and could listen to music..". Yes, we can all do that on our cheap eco boxes too!

I assume this stuff is paid for content by Ferrari?

I never thought of this but given the absurdity of front page news being about an un-noteworthy Ferrari extra, I can think of no other reason.

Incorrect information. The government were originally working towards a target switch over date of 2015 .... but the great British public have voted with their tuning knobs and stuck firmly with analogue .... predominantly FM.

As with many new tech things digital radio promises loads but doesn't deliver the goods. The sound quality is not as good as a quality FM set and the coverage is still patchy. Add to this poorer battery life, expensive up front costs and very poor penetration into the motor industry and you have what amounts to an embarrasing failure.

It is now by no means certain that a switch over will happen at all. The government may be forced into a compromise situation where the two platforms will continue to co-exist.

I'm sure that I'm not alone in having at least seven FM radios dotted around the house ..... plus one in each of my two cars. Why the hell should I invest a small fortune replacing them for something which is inferior?

A lot of manufacturers are still making cars with analogue radios, DAB is actually very difficult to implement in a vehicle especially one with non-standard construction like a Ferrari (hence the horrific windscreen antennae). I think that by the time the Auto makers move fully onto DAB, the world would have moved on to internet radio instead.
Very true. In 2/3 years time once 4G really gets rolled out be far easier to use a M2M sim in the car and receive unlimited radio stations over 4G.
I have difficulty getting 3G where I live (North side of Ipswich) so I can't see 4G getting there in the next 2-3 years.

My new car has DAB. According to WorldDMB "As of Q1 2014, 45.2% of new cars came with DAB digital radio as standard, up from 42.8% in Q4 2013." It's interesting to see how much of Europe has DAB already.
European countries have the sense to be using dab+, not the obsolete and incompatible dab from the 90's the BBC has been supporting.
