RE: Volvo V60 Polestar
Discussion
As a Volvo fan I love this and think it seems like a cracking motor to me, I hope this is truly the start of Volvo and Polestar working together in a closer fashion on Volvos production cars.
I'll take mine in black please, with just the tiny blue Polestar badges standing out - very few people would see that coming off of the lights.
I wish.

I see this more of a marketing excersize than anything else. With such a limited amount of cars being built they are levergaing exclusivity for the high price tag. If you ask me this is putting Polestar on the consumer radar and enabling brand exposure which Volvo can incorporate further into their trim lines. All round a very good start if you ask me.
Sorry I know this goes against the usual policy of 'but you can buy something cheaper which is better' type comments/ nonsense.....

For £50k and 'only' 350bhp, it's no headline stealer is it?
If Polestar are/to become the AMG/RS/M of the Volvo range, they really 'ought' to be doing better in the power stakes no? and for that money?
RS4 of 14 years ago was 375bhp.......
Nice enough car, but it's hardly the complete package!!
Well Polestar have an uphill struggle with only 2 litres to work with now from Volvo. Think this is the last 6 cylinder for a while. If Polestar are/to become the AMG/RS/M of the Volvo range, they really 'ought' to be doing better in the power stakes no? and for that money?

The new Volvo twincharger engine does get a good write up though.

50 Gs for a V60!!!!!?????
Would be a bit of a shock (well maybe not) when you come to trade it in a year later for low 20s.
Love one, but not at that price point.
If that's what they command a year from now, then that's my next car. As a serial 850T5 owner (including one heavily modified one - and yes, Volvos can be made to slide the rear!) I love this car. Would be a bit of a shock (well maybe not) when you come to trade it in a year later for low 20s.

Love the looks and the colour, and any car that comes as standard with adjustable Ohlins dampers is for me! My current S80 is the most comfortable long distance cruiser I've ever had and I reckon the Polestar would wipe away the miles in relaxing style yet entertain when on the right road.
I was pretty much set on a BMW 3 or 5 series (again a serial 3 series buyer) as a family car but this would feel so much more special to me.

It is an inteligent approach to entering a very competative market if you ask me and the fact they are using tried and tested tech to do this makes it even better. Is it not the highest BHP Volvo have ever sold in a car on the forecourt?
I believe so, it trumps the Volvo/Yamaha V8 by around 35bhp I believe.Max_Torque said:
And it was all going so well, and then, we got to the price! Was anyone else expecting a high/mid £30k price point before options rather than a £50k one?
You've clearly not seen a Volvo price list lately have you? My V60 was over £30k with a reasonably powerful diesel up front and only SE (one above base) trim. Non Polestar cars with all the toys that are standard on the Polestar can easily cross the £40k line. ed to add a D4 180bhp diesel in full R Design trim with the toys added is £41k without things like rear TVs.

Or you could buy a BMW 335d Xdrive touring which is faster, will give you better mpg, AND will save you about £8k.
Indeed you could have one of those like all the other sheep and drive past 10 others exactly the same every day on the commute. Personally something with a little bit of rarity appeals to me much more.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
