125 cars? Genuinely surprised if they manage to sell that many! It looks nice, but not 50k nice.

So people who appreciate and buy good cars are sheep? You go off and buy your Polestar then and leave the sheep to their most likely better cars and enjoying their £10,000 saving. Each to their own, I suppose!
Appreciate and buy good cars? Most of them are sold due to the very cheap lease deals that can be had on them, hardly any are bought privately. I have 2 friends with new 330d`s. They are good cars although very small inside and huge on the outside but I personally wouldn`t have one as they are far too common to be spending nearly 40grand or £5k a year lease on for my liking.

So yes, however good a car is when they are 10 a penny and all over the roads I get very turned off by them and would rather look for a more unique choice when spending that sort of money. Something in limited numbers certainly appeals much more than something every Tom, Dick and Harry are driving.

This is why I'm beginning to dislike Volvo. Just when they look like they're starting to find their fun side, they crap the bed and remember that they're afraid to lift up their frock and find a pair of balls.
All those rumblings of Polestar becoming their M-Division conquering skunk-works, teasing us by letting journos tool around in their stupid-power prototypes, and at the end of it all the best Volvo allow them to do is a lukewarm estate. Don't get me wrong, it's nice and all, and potent enough, but other than 'being a Volvo', I can't find a single thing it's capable of doing better than an Audi S4 Avant, which costs nearly 10 grand less.

Good on Volvo if they can find 125 lunatics to take one of these on though, price aside I'm sure it's a cracking motor, and I love the Polestar blue - not dissimilar to Grabber Blue on Mustangs.

I hope Volvo do well; we need some variety in the marketplace!

Yes, definitely surprised when I got to that bit!
Fully option a V60 D5 and you get it to 44k. The Polestar has all the options included, plus the Polestar stuff.

The Polestar is optioned up to the hilt. About 0% of S4s are sold without any options. Its easy to get to 50k and then they're on a level playing field. The Polestar has exclusivity, 100% power to the rear axle and superior steering feel on its side (yes, I've driven both)

I see this more of a marketing excersize than anything else. With such a limited amount of cars being built they are levergaing exclusivity for the high price tag. If you ask me this is putting Polestar on the consumer radar and enabling brand exposure which Volvo can incorporate further into their trim lines. All round a very good start if you ask me.

Sorry I know this goes against the usual policy of 'but you can buy something cheaper which is better' type comments/ nonsense.....
Exactly right

Just had a quick look at one of these in the flesh whilst at my local dealers and came away very impressed.
Didn't get to take it on the road as it was sat in the valeting bay waiting to go into their showroom, but just blipping the throttle was enough to confirm that aside from anything else the exhaust note is rather naughty!
It looked good too, sat alongside my regular R-design, whilst still fairly understated the different wheels and spoilers do add to the visuals nicely and aesthetically it looks very appealing.
The interior is pretty standard V60 - but then there's really nothing wrong with that, well screwed together, good seats, cracking stereo, blah blah blah.
Irrespective of the press reports that will predictably give it lots of positive feedback, then favour one of the German trio, this ought to be on the radar of anyone looking for a fast estate.
For those of us that are fans of fast Volvo's its a shame that this could be a last hurrah for the old 5 and 6-cylinders, as they are about to be superseded by their new 4-cylinder engines, because as good as they appear to be, it's unlikely they will have the aural character.

Ha, that will teach me to skim read.

I've a V60 Polestar alert set up on eBay. Assumed this was a proper one.
