I would totally have one of these, but I've measured my parking space and it's 4400mm long, there'd be the better part of a whole metre of car sticking out after I parked it, and I rather suspect that the parking enforcement company would take exception. It would be hard to claim it was entirely "Within the lines"
I had a 1993 K plate in Rolls Royce blue a few years ago. Had 98k miles when bought it. It was the most expensive car to run that I've ever owned (and that includes the prancing horses). Nothing cost less than £500. Four tyres were £1200. It never beat 16mpg and did ten in town. It was also the most fun car ever. Four of us went to Le Mans in it dressed as Arabs and had a lot of fun at the roundabout when silliness there was still allowed. It went down extremely well cruising Arnage too! Boy it was fast though, you could easily have it taken away by the gendarmes. For anyone thinking of buying one, do it. Just budget about the same as what you paid for it in running costs over about a three year period. It's worth every penny.
Chauffeur who did our wedding had a turbo r in wildberry with Cream hide. I paid extra just so he would pick us up from the hotel the morning after. He knew I was a petrolhead so proceeded to floor it down Leeds Ring Road.

Sounds like your wife and mine have been swapping notes, I had to settle for a 928 in the end, but never say never...I bought one a couple of years ago on a complete whim, just because and always wanted one, and a well known dealer had a p/x for £3k !
I spent about £500 on it rectifying the flakey wheel arches, then drove it for about 6 months.....quite sparingly because of the cost of fuel, and then sold it on at a modest profit.
I always find myself browsing, and really fancy an Arnage.
One thing with the Bentley R......it's a big car ! We have plenty of space for parking on the drive, but would get close to the garage, and our local MOT man was hesitant to stick it on his lift as it was so heavy.
Also the early carburettor turbo cars can be more problematic than the later injected cars.
Obviously perceived wisdom is to buy the best, get it inspected etc.....but sometime life isn't not like that !

He took it to the local MOT garage and once up in the air the lift locked out it took 3 days to get it off the lift due to lift engineer’s turning up seeing the Bentley 6 foot in the air and say that’s worth more than my house eventually it was lowered and as a goodwill gesture my friend paid for the missed mot`s at the garage and MOT`d it over a pit from then on still runs a Bentley a newer now and uses it once or twice a week

My Disco 3 was way heavier than the Bentley - 500kg more, I believe - and that never had a problem getting up on the ramps. Three or so years ago, I was determined to buy one of these.... even after my wife pointed out it was several feet longer than the garage!
Tried to buy a few at about the six - eight grand mark and they were all sheds. Fantastic cars though and one I felt really, REALLY sorry for, but I still chickened out of buying it. It was bright red with the dirtiest cream interior, my wife (who is not a 'fuss arse') refused to even sit in it! It was leaking water so badly from the coolant system I didn't want to drive it but the owner insisted!

Now I live in a box of a flat with no off road parking, and I still think about getting one.

Don't hesitate just buy one, every mile is a smile. But make sure you buy a good one. I had been looking at the classifieds for a couple of years. Watching prices and humming and harring about actually pulling the trigger and buying one. Would it fit and would I enjoy driving it.
I'd driven my late father in laws Shadow 11 quite a bit over the years and whilst I loved the smell of old english leather the lack luster performance from its 6750cc V8 and the body roll just did not do it for me.
So over a couple of years and asking many questions I narrowed down what I wanted from my Turbo R. Column change was a must. A three speed but the GM400 is a great gearbox. Individual arm rests on the seats. Mirrors on the door not the quarter light. Dark blue or black with magnolia leather but must have a black roll top. Dash top in simple terms. 17" Turbo S wheels, the prettiest of them all.
Back in November my ideal spec car popped up. The deal was done and I have made a new friend.
A 1990 Turbo R, Midnight Blue metallic with parchment leather. Owned by an absolute gentleman. I am lucky to have two good mates that are both RR & B specialists. So we top to tailed the car and to liven up what is already a pretty nippy car we fitted Bentley's transient boost kit. The last kit they had in stock.
I don't give Hatty a hard time off the line preffering to nail it from 30mph onwards. On a damp road it will light both rear tyres up and the performance rely does belie its size. 15mpg average which is not too bad.
I've owned many cars over the years. From Supercars to mundane daily drivers and my Turbo R is my number 2 of the best cars I have ever owned.
The Arnage. A very good mate has one and the Turbo R is a lot quicker. Whilst the Arnage is a lovely car, it does not smell like a proper Bentley should, in fact it does not smell at all and the type faces on the guages are just well just too modern. But as my mate said I don't want to be driving yesterdays newspaper.

A turbo R (or a Brooklands from the same era) is on my list of vehicles I'd like to own. I've always been drawn to big luxury saloon cars. Currently I drive an XJ8 but am wondering whether to buy a Turbo R as a second car.
I've just got to ignore the people who tell me not buy one because A) they are too expensive if they fail to proceed and B) being in my late 20's I'm too young for one. Though I bought my Jag when I was 24. Hmm...
