I've just brought a Audi S2 Nothelle N300 Avant. This one has been remapped and is pushing around 350bhp. It's great, it looks just like an old diesel estate.
That would have been some money back in its day,

Modern but the F series D3 or B3 touring, even in diesel form does 0-60 in 4.5 secs and 171mph, the petrol will nudge 190mph.

It's an estate in the UK FYI. I know it does t sound as cool but that's the way it is!
Although I've noticed some Peugeot's are called "SW" these days.

Yes. I know there's a Subaru called a wagon but it's still gay. Estate!
I'm inclined to agree.
As far as I'm concerned the scooby wagon is a hatchback nerd

If you go back far enough some of the American muscle cars had wagon versions. Mostly they've been built later on- the "muscle" drivetrains weren't available as factory options in the wagon, but there were enough parts in common that an aftermarket drivetrain swap was easy- hence you can find a GTO wagon despite the fact that Pontiac never advertised one.

In 1962-3 the Studebaker Lark Wagonaire was available with the supercharged Avanti R2 or R3 V-8, putting out either 289 or 335 horsepower (gross, but also apparently an underestimate):

At about the same time, GM produced the utterly mental Pontiac Tempest Super Duty as a racing special- 421 cid and a rated 405 horsepower. 6 of the 14 built were wagons in order to have more weight over the back wheels.

Coming back to the present day, I think Cadillac make a CTS-V wagon...

I LOVE fast estates!

My history...

Vectra GSI estate (hmm, was crap TBH)
Audi S2 Avant (Ruby red)
Audi S2 Avant (Pearl blue)
B5 RS4

Now got a 330d Touring, not quite as fast but remapped it would give the S2's a run for their money.

If I got another it would probably be a 335i Touring next

www.wagonation.com/

Some very nice stuff on there. Plenty of questionable ones too, and the odd horror. On balance though, worth a quick browse.

Just bought my first fast estate, which is quite a rare car, a Mitsubishi Airtrek, which is basically an outlander with an evo vii gta engine and gearbox. Thought it would be a good alternative to a Forester turbo as it's a bit quicker.

I think that mine qualifies for this - it's pretty rare (apparently 134 estates made), and reasonably quick - somewhere around 300BHP and 400lbsft, along with a properly cavernous boot!

Not everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly does family duties brilliantly!

I give you the Vectra VXR estate...

These are mint..

Same engine as Vectra VXR without the awful looks. Maps to the same 300hp and 400lbft too.

I had a saloon, it was a reasonable amount quicker than my 335d.

We have a Passat Estate with the 200hp Golf GTI in it. Has quite a turn of speed, (with a massive thirst) but definitely surprises a few people.

Loving the Saab XWD trubo. Thinking they should definitely make the Golf R estate and bring it to the UK.
