Some say don't buy a car with a tow bar, but what about 4x4?
Discussion
I have found many front drive cars have effectively no strength behind the rear spring mounting point. Have a look at the bolt points, & you will soon see if it has worked hard.
I once towed an empty horse float, about 220Kg, 150 kilometers behind a Toyota Camry. Although a Toyota tow bar, it was loose on the mounting after just that tow, & could not be tightened. There is not enough body to actually attach anything to, & most front drive things aren't much better.
Our Holdens can handle the work body wise, but need a 4 core radiator replacing the stock 3 core, & a transmission cooler, if they have to tow any distances. Even with a 4X4 with a transmission oil cooler, if you can get a sniff of the transmission oil, it will tell you if the thing has done a lot of hard work.
