Guys,
I am in the fortunate position of having up ten grand to spend on a weekend and sunny day toy, I am a massive porsche fan and have previously owned both 944s and Boxsters, I would love to own a 911but am also tempted by the lovely Lotus Elise from the same era, give me some advise and feedback guys please, bear in mind this car will do about 2000 miles a year for fun only.
Cheers Rich

Why can't you put 'what car' in the thread title so as not to fool honest PH'ers who cannot abide yet another 'what car' thread?

I'm sorry this is really starting to annoy me, this is a motoring website why can't we discuss cars? Yes people have different opions what are good or bad but shirley it helps OP to make an informed dicisions from other peoples experiences who may have ran the cars previous.
Also what's the harm in spending 10K in the classifieds of someone elses money? Sometimes it brings up left field choice which OP may not have considered which retrospectifly may appeal, not always mx 5 or 335d mapped. If you don't want partake in the classfied searching, don't. If you don't have a real world expreince in cars that are considered move on to the next thread.
OP sorry to go OT, I don't have any experiences on either car, but what ever you choose, enjoy it.

Sorry to FOOL all you petrol heads out there in to talking cars, I mistakingly thought this was a car forum, as you can see by the amount of threads that I have posted, this was a first for me, thanks for the second two posts, the first one is nothing short of rude. Have a great bank holiday, Cheers.

Shhh, I would quite like that, but not so keen on black cars.I spent my 10k on a 911 last Jan (2013)
Had been looking at 911/M3/Elise. Had always wanted a 911 and found myself lookind at them more than the others.
Mine is now going to a new owner next weekend (fingers crossed) but in the 15 months I've owned it I loved every drive I had in it. I'm only selling mine now as i really fancy an M6.
Even though you have 10k to spent just remember they are old cars now and will more than likely need money spending. I have put about 2.5k into the 911 just to get it up to a decent condition. All wear and tear parts. Suspension/servicing/wheels/tyres/exhaust and other bits and bobs. Don't put off ringing Porsche either for parts as most of the parts I bought came from them as the were cheaper.
As with any car you will see good ones and bad ones so look at as many as you can first.
Also consider VX220, Z3M, Z4M, M3, Boxster 986/987 and Caymans arnt far off 10k now either.
Just remember they are performance cars and can come with performance car parts prices when things go wrong.
