What 'Hot Hatch' For Less Than £1500?
Discussion
So I've just sold my C70 T5, after inching the T5 itch - never want to do that again! 16mpg and 4 months of worrying what would go wrong next is too much!
I've had 4 Clio 172/182s, and have been looking at them again - I'm 29 with no kids, own home and a Fiancé that has her own car, so no need for anything family like!
I also started looking at Puma 1.7s, but think the rusty arches would annoy me as I like a clean car
I'm a mechanic so like to tinker, but with a wedding looming, don't want to HAVE to tinker, just to get to work!
So, any other recommendations in the sub £1500 bracket, for a decent hot hatch?
Thanks!

Ignis Sport - more of a warm hatch but a really fun little car and a bit different:

The problem I have with another 172/182 is a want the rarer colours - my last one was a Sunflower phase 1 which is one of the rarest, the one before was a Flame Red ph2
I ideally want a Racing Blue 182, but all outta my budget ATM!
How about Dark Blue (a bit like the Williams Clio colour) 172 £1200? Full history. Standard with mild aftermarket exhaust, Not advertising, just saying..I ideally want a Racing Blue 182, but all outta my budget ATM!
£1500 will only buy a hound of a 172 riddled with bork.
As suggested a 306 gti6 or 2.0 16v xsi would be a good choice and £1500 is plenty for a good one. Alternatively a pre 01 xsara vts will hand both of the above their arses and be in budget but not as pretty.
106/saxo vts gti yes they are good but finding a good one is tricky these days.
Pumas are massive fun and rust like mad but are cheap enough to buy and have the arches sorted within budget.

You could seek out a classic Impreza for that money with a bit of searching.
LOTS of smiles per mile. Unbeatable performance and handling for that amount of dosh too.
I paid £800 or so for mine - W reg Wagon. Surprisingly cheap on insurance these days - only a couple of hundred quid more than a Puma!LOTS of smiles per mile. Unbeatable performance and handling for that amount of dosh too.
