A couple are on the programme right now after buying the lowest-spec Vauxhall Corsa. They've spent months complaining that there is a fault with the engine and that it's apparently "being starved of fuel". Now they've got Dom to investigate and realised that there is no fault with the car, only that the three cylinder engine is underpowered.

Only now, months later, are they reading reviews of the car and bothering to do any research on it, despite demanding a brand new replacement for their 'faulty' one since they bought it. What a pair of fking muppets, and how embarrassing it must be going on TV with a consumer problem, only to find out that the problem is your own ignorance and stupidity.

Short version: Pair of tts do absolutely no research on a car, buy it, complain for six months that the engine is borked, then realise they've bought a 1.0 litre, three-cylinder with 65PS. Now look stupid.

I thought it'd only be a matter of time before someone started this thread tongue out

They've given her a new car! There wasn't a fault with the first one - they just didn't know what they were buying.

Yeah, it was very good of Vauxhall to swap the car even though there was no fault.

Just watching this too! Morons.

'Int' end we reckon wat 'as 'appened is Voxall 'av put a 1 leetor enjin in a car wats not fit forrit.'

Why are Vauxhall being so lenient over this and giving 'em a 'better' car? I get it'll be good PR on telly but it's perpetuating the mongtardedness mad

There was a "consumer case" in What Car a while back about some tard who had bought Freelander new and after a while had been "horrified" to discover rust on the driveshafts. LR eventually agreed to paint them as he was such a pillock. FFS.

Meanwhile, people with real problems can't get proper redress.

There was a similar one very recently where a bloke bought a new Audi and there was surface rust on the brake discs. I'm not 100% sure, but I think they replaced everything for him to stop him complaining.

Ha, the wonders of having a day off and daytime TV....does it get any better?

I can't believe the stupidity of that couple by not doing any research whatsoever, then expecting to reject the car because it drove exactly as it should do. I can't believe Vauxhall eventually gave in and not only swapped it, they upgraded them for nothing! Hey, lets all go and buy a bottom of the range Vauxhall, then all write to Dom Littlewood and get him to arrange the swap for a better model....the precedent has been set wink

The husband also said "I've had Vauxhalls my whole life" so they must've bought every car in the same way and just been lucky they didn't pick a slow one up until now. I'm still in disbelief at the ignorance shown.

So why did the BBC show a non case instead of real cons ?

They are equally stupid in this case.

Because they got a result! Ironically, had Vauxhall not given in, it wouldn't have been a success for the programme so it probably wouldn't have got the airtime and therefore no bad press for Vauxhall.

rolleyes My girlfriend is actually starting an argument with me over this! She says they probably had better/ more important things to do with their time than look up the power of the engine in the car. Get a fking brochure, ask a salesman, or look on the iPad like they did in in the programme? Jesus, I can't believe some people will defend this kind of behaviour.

The problem you have here is; clearly the owners didn't test drive the car, before they bought it so potentially the garage/salesman/Vauxhall could have been investigated for not making sure that the car was correct for them before they had purchased it.

Does sound utter madness though.
