Don't Get Done, Get Dom (car related)
Discussion
Bloody hell. That was like watching a pair of monkeys trying to change a lightbulb.
[daily mail mode] The BBC should never have broadcast this. The presence of Dom and his TV crew effectively cowed Vauxhall into giving a pair of idiots a significant free upgrade. It would have been gratifying to see the company refuse to engage once they had shown the car to be fault-free.[/dailymail]
My shed cost a literal fraction of the cost and I spent far longer testing and researching it than these mugs.

I think the dealers simply gave in cos they know fook all about the cars they sell and it was the easy route what with TV camera about the place.
I recently had a Vivaro in, it had been in the dealers for 3 weeks having a cold start issue looked at, £1000 later and it was back still the same, the dealers couldan't find the problem, i changed the filthy air filter and the leaking fuel filter (sucking air in as clearly showing in the clear fuel pipe) and it's perfect now, i bet if TV camera where there there would not have been a £1000 charge for changing bits that didn't need changing (glow plugs, GP relay, lift pump ect ).
As for the buyers, total fooking Aholes with totaly the atitude of this century "it's not my fault, somone should have told me" fook em, dheads.
this .i am utterly astounded vauxhall bothered to entertain them.I recently had a Vivaro in, it had been in the dealers for 3 weeks having a cold start issue looked at, £1000 later and it was back still the same, the dealers couldan't find the problem, i changed the filthy air filter and the leaking fuel filter (sucking air in as clearly showing in the clear fuel pipe) and it's perfect now, i bet if TV camera where there there would not have been a £1000 charge for changing bits that didn't need changing (glow plugs, GP relay, lift pump ect ).

OK - I have had a chance to see this. Punters have an independent report claiming the car had faults. Supplying dealer agreed at one point as they had it in for repairs 4 times......
As usual there's a lot the TV folk aren't telling us.
ETA - they actually have 3 indy reports saying there is a problem with the car.

I like your thinking. Perhaps manufacturers should streamline their ranges a bit to make it easier.
I'd love to see VW's reaction to the same case as featured. And there must be loads of people who've been "allowed" (ie not steered away from) to buy diesels when their use case dictates they ought to avoid them and have petrol.
Try to tell someone that they shouldn't really be buying a diesel because they only do 5000 miles a year. I've seen our retail guys do it, they explain they won't get the benefits, DPF issues as it won't be doing the miles (we're in London too!). The customers think the salesman are idiots as all they see is an MPG figure they'll never get...I'd love to see VW's reaction to the same case as featured. Oh you are joking?? What was the outcome?
A very polite letter back saying it wouldn't be cost effective to do It just demonstrated the total ignorance and dim whited-ness of the general public IMO. I simply can't believe that people are so retarded when it comes to spending £9k on something. It'd be like going in to an estate agents with £150k and buying 'an house' and complaining that it only had 1 bedroom and not 3 which is what you needed, and in fact, didn't even have a roof and then trying to get the estate agents to give you a bigger nicer house because 'they didn't tell us that the cheap house was small'. It's just ridiculous.
Clearly the correct ending to this would have been to buy them a quadracycle in replacement and said 'if you thought that was bad, try this!'
Idiots!

Why wouldn't they broadcast it if there really was something wrong with the car? As it is, this is a spectacularly weak piece of consumer journalism. If there was more to it it wouldn't make any sense to keep the full story under wraps.Pebbles167 said:
Hmmm...they had reports saying the car wasn't fit for purpose, the dealership had it multiple times and changed all sorts of stuff and she was given a courtesy car with the same engine which she said was fine.So based on all that I think it's reasonable to assume that there was actually something wrong with the car.

Independent garages full of yes men, trying to please these idiots by the sound of it.So based on all that I think it's reasonable to assume that there was actually something wrong with the car.
Further to that, most cars will have minor problems, doesn't mean the car is faulty. Not to the extent they are complaining about.
I bet the car was spot on. (albeit a st car)
I've seen a few of the Don't get done get Dom programs and they do my head in, apart from Dom telling us he's been fighting our consumer issues for years (wrong car right car?) he seems to give an unusually easy time to the big companies who for the most part end up doing exactly what they should have done in the first place. Companies that require a TV program to make them perform to their consumer obligations ought to be shamed up, not complemented....
I'll watch the Corsa program when I get in, sounds strange!

Bit "no smoke without fire", isn't it? The programme makers say repeatedly the car was fine. If there was evidence to the contrary they'd have said so, simply because "Vauxhall sold us a lemon" is a much more watchable story than "We don't know how to use Google".NPI said:
