I've gone for many more cars than most here!

04 Honda S2000 £7k (Because it may be sunny one day a year)
03 Noble M12 GTO £28k (Always wanted one!)
94 Renault Clio Williams £2k (The cheap and very cheerful)
02 Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon £2350 (For the push bike etc.)
95 Mazda RX-7 £5k (I can't give a good reason, I just love it!)
03 TVR T350c £22k (Again, just because)
12 Toyota GT-86 £17500 (Well I had to have a modern toy)
99 Honda Integra DC2 £3k (Uncle had one, then didn't sell it to me. So I will have a red one instead)

Which leaves £13,350 to have a toss up between a R32 GTR, a R33 GTR or a P1.

Dodge Challenger SRT8, http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/d...
Cost: 35 995
Balance: 64 005
Why I chose it: what’s not to like? Stunning looking car with the performance to match, I’ve had a Camaro, have a Mustang it’s about time I tried a Challi. "Green With Envy" or "Plum Crazy" wrap and it'd be perfect

Range Rover Sport, http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...
Cost: 29 950
Balance: 34 055
Why I chose it: despite the questionable image I still like it, it would be a (powerful) practical counter point to the two fun cars (plus my wife would kill me if she didn’t get anything out of this deal!!)

Plymouth Prowler, http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
Cost: 27 500
Balance: 6 555
Why I chose it: a factory built hot-rod, stunning looks and I’ve wanted one as long as they’ve been around.

The balance of the cash could would be spent on a few ‘goodies’ split between the Prowler and Challi.

All in all I’d say that this little lot covers all my bases, practical & fun = RRS; semi-practical, road-trip cruiser/bruiser & fun = Challi; totally impractical & fun = Prowler

I'm going to be a bit different - a garage of cars the same age as me - 1968 reg date - these will sit well with my 1968 105e Anglia project.

So here goes -

Lotus elan - £20k - you have to have something from Norfolk in there
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

Citroen DS - £20k - For the sheer technical foresight and ingenuity
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...

Escort Mk1 - £20k - I know its not real but closest I could get - my first car was a Mk1 Escort !
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

Jag Mk2 - £20k - for the shopping and a day at the races, plenty of room for the hamper in the back
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/j...

Porsche 912 - $25k so approx £20k with shipping and tax - Everyone needs a Porker in their life at some time.

Only just seen this and decided mine would get lost and never published so I decided to blog it here.
Managed to get an Audi, Range Rover, Porsche, Merc and Golf into the mix and still have change for a shed or 2!

What a challenge. My workday is ruined))))

So,
1. BMW 330 XD - decent car for family, nice engine and best handling between the estates.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
Spent: £11 500
Left: £88 500.

2. Suzuki Jimny - as was written above, quite funny to drive, if for some reason you need an offroad car. Open roof adds some charm.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/s...
Spent: 5 000
Left: 83 500.

3. Lotus Elise - no other car maker can match the driving pleasure provided by Lotuses. As the budget is tight, let's look for a cheap option:
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...
Spent: 12 000
Left: 71 500

4. Jaguar XK - nice coupe for enjoying life. Pure beauty.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/j...
Spent: 17 500
Left: 54 000

5. Caterham Let's add some craziness to the garage!
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...
Spent: 15 000
Left: 39 000

6. Lotus Elan - each collection must have a classic car in it.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...
Spent: 20 000
Left: 19 000

7. Porsche 911 - what a collection without a 911?
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...
Spent: 18 000
Left: 1 000

Or just to spend all the 100K for an amazing GT3 RS

Mk1 Mexico £25k for weekend fun
997 Porsche 911 Turbo £50k for my everyday car
BMW X5 £25k for the other half, long runs, shopping trips and a bit of practical load lugging

I could replace all of these with many alternatives such as an E30 325 sport, Audi RS4 Avant or just have one car, a Singer 911. Can you get one of those as cheaply as £100k?

All too easy.

1. Alfa 1300 GTA. For fun (and because it's the sexiest car ever made)! Price: £22,171.61. Balance: £77,828.39

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

2. Merc 500E. For bahnstorming and general trips to the continent. Price: ~£20k. Balance: £57,828.39

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

3. E39 M5. Daily. Price: £8,400. Balance: £49,428.39

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

4. Defender 110. For dog transport and general hard-man duties. Price: £11,990. Balance: £37,438.39

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

5. Proper Rangie. Family hack. Price: £7,995. Balance: £29,443.39

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...

6. R107 SL. Just because I'd look über cool driving around in it. Price: £7,995. Balance: £21,448.39

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

So, that leaves a healthy budget of £21.5k to be used for a few resprays (I like my cars black... all of them!) and perhaps a twin-spark conversion for the Alfa, proper monoblocks for the 500E (although I do like the stealthiness of the 8-holes... so maybe not, would depend of my daily mood), BBS LMs for the M5, a winch, lift-kit and set of macho tires for the Defender, classic three-spokes for the Rangie and a fine pair of Lorinser LOs for the SL.

Job jobbed.

Nice list, although, as you say, reliability may be an issue!

Mine is an F355 Berlinetta, manual (although technically that's a tautology as only the manuals were referred to as "F355". They dropped the "F" for the paddle version and called it the "355 F1" - bit of nerdy trivia for you!)

Got mine in nero carbonio (charcoal black to you and me) with tan leather which is a nice combo I think. I wanted TDF blue/crema leather initially but this one came along at the right price so I went for it and am now pleased that I did.

If you have the chance, go for it before they get too silly money. The noise that it makes is pure joy, and it's all natural (none of this trick exhaust nonsense). I genuinely dream about driving it when I haven't taken it out for a while. Pathetic I know!
Sounds amazing, love the exposed manual gear stick. The last of the truely lovely looking Fezzas in my opinion. I'm hoping that I can afford one before they go for silly money.

I don't blame you, gorgeous things.

yes I've put way too much time and effort into this. but I'm in work and its dead so here's my list and reasons for said car -

Ford Escort Mk 1 (1976) £47,000
For forest rallying, and when I scare myself witless on a big skid, I'll use it on tarmac wink

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/motorsport/...

Fiesta ST Cup car. (2007) £8,500
For tarmac rounds(when the Escorts being made straight again)/track day hoons

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/motorsport/...

NEW Eco-Trailer tilt bed & winch (2014) £6,250
For transporting the cars

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/big-stuff/t...

AUDI A6 (PI C5) TDI QUATTRO SPORT AVANT 2003 (2003) £3,250
For towing & load lugging duties to and from events and double as winter hack –

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Reflex TVR Tuscan 4.0 (2000) £15,500
Just because it’s the first TVR I ever saw and lusted after! And because TVR!!!

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/t...

Nissan Skyline R32 GTR £8,995
Because I’ve always wanted one, and it’s close to standard.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/n...

2003 Ford Focus RS Mk I £5,500
Because I love the mk1 focus RS. And I’m not afraid of the high mileage on it!

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

Ducati 748 Infostrada Rep £2,500
Because I love the sound of a Ducati and a 998 more than I have left!

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/motorbikes/...

This leaves me with £2,505

So from that I buy –

Hexagon 6m Professional Race Marquee £995
Yes its expensive for a marquee, but square ones will get me & crew wet trying to work on the car!

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/motorsport/...

Of the remaining £1500
I’ll use the rest for race suit, helmet, boots, gloves & tyres if there’s change.

For £100k, I could fill a garage easily with things I'd like, but the top choices would be:

Daily runaround: Range Rover TDV8 (http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/land-rover/range-rover/land-rover-range-rover-3-6-tdv8-vogue-4dr-auto-landrover-fsh/2220932?isexperiment=true) - 16,500

Luxury Family wafter:
Bentley Turbo R (http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/bentley/arnage/bentley-arnage-v8-1999/2235432?isexperiment=true) - 17,000

The Sexy Car:
Maserati GranTurismo (http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/maserati/granturismo/feb-08-57-maserati-granturismo-4-2/2161867?isexperiment=true) - £35,995

The Toy to Thrash:
Corvette C5 Manual (http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/chevrolet/corvette/chevrolet-corvettec6-2006/1950846?isexperiment=true) - £23,950

And I'd have about 7 grand left for fuel to burn...or stuff to placate the missus with!

A good way to spend an hour! Let's see now...

Start with daily driver:

£20,950 BMW M5 (E60)

Frankly as soon as i saw this, i couldn't imagine not choosing it:

£54,995 - 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL

I suppose one could count this as a trackday car. Also nice colour:

£8,500 - Vauxhall Monaro

And something for the summer:

£4,792 - Mazda MX-5 1.8 (Mk2)

£10,763 left over. Probably would be best to invest in a ridiculous alarm/immobiliser system for the CSL.

BMW S1000RR £8750

E46 M3 CSL £29995

Total - £99733

I see lots of people with stuff like C63 Estate's or M5 V10 Tourings etc as the daily driver.

While i love both but as a daily driver they are just too sore on juice in my opinion.

2 friends had eouach [C63 and E60 M5] great cars but the C63 did about 18mpg and the M5 15mpg - worse if you drive them really hard. They just go through fuel so fast, both would empty an expensive tank very fast. Fun but for a daily driver a pain to visit the petrol station all the time forking out near £100 a time.

Personally I would prefer an easy to run nice powerful 6cyl diesel as my everyday comfy family loadlugger car and but have a R8/CSL [or equivalent] for 'spirited' driving

Just depends how far you drive each day and what you are prepared to spend on fuel each year. Each to their own. And this is supposed to be fun. Who fantasises about diesels.....
