As a Dutchie I'm not fully aware of UK prices, but here's mine (for today):

- Alfa Romeo 4C => trackday and fun car
- A mint Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2 (preferably Final Edition)
- Jaguar XJ 3.5 V8 (X350) => daily driver; classy, timeless, comfortable and relatively light.

In the fortunate position of not needing a daily so with that in mind...

A garage full of normally aspirated goodness.

Ultima Can Am £39,995

E60 M5 £22,995

Leaves me with £8,500 which will probably cover a few tyre changes... laugh

100k you say? Pfft that aint even going to scratch the surface of my favorite car, however 100k is 100k and after thinking about it 100k would pretty much leave me with every car I could ever need and leave me on cloud nine of car ownership.

1. Wanted a GT3 in this list but they are just too expensive and wouldn't leave me with much left to play with so step forward a 911 (997) Turbo. Manual and a tad under 40k. a full on supercar with lol acceleration.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

2. VW Toerag a great if unasuming vehicle for wafting the OH and little lad on my monthly 600 mile round trip to visit the folks oop where its cold. 2 year old 3.0tdi. Not as in your face as a Range Rover or an X5. A lot of car for the money a snip under 26k

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/v...

3. BMW M135i - Not as desirable as the sensational 1M but not much slower and 15k cheaper than a 1M with 315bhp, small, fast and reasonably practical. A great understated everyday car. A steal at £23850

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

4. Westfield Sei - Ok a Caterham wasn't in budget but for a cheap giggle on a track or a Sunday morning blast on some twisty b roads this is a great car. Easy to work on and quick enough to give you a smile. Wide body to suit my 'ahem' wide body. Yours for £7500

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/w...

5. Finally step forward a Subaru Impreza - Why?
I love Impreza's from the very first time I drove and then owned one. Loads of dogs around but the odd one slips through. The Bug Eye is probably the ugliest version but I think they've aged well with time. Whilst not as fast or sharp as current hatches this puppy at under 2.5k shows what a bargain they have become. Low mileage and totally standard.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/s...

Now if someone wants to give me 100k I can go out and realise a dream

Thank you.

Audi Q7 4.2 TDI - £29,991 (balance £70,009). I already have one of these and they are great all round cars for a family as well as surprisingly grin enducing with the torque it delivers, as well as the other drivers it surprises. I would choose the later one for the later generation MMI.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

MGB Roadster V8 - £7,995 (balance £62,014). I do like somewhat of a 'Q' car theme, so getting a V8 engined classic for not a lot of money is always tempting. The MGB might not deliver the sophistication that many people would be looking for, but I can't help thinking that this would be a bit of hooning fun.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...

VW T1 Split Screen Camper Van - £39,950 (balance £22,064). This one is to keep my wife very happy. She has a desire to find a beach somewhere, get out a barbecue and wake up with the sound of the waves and views of the sea. Also, the kids are starting to get into festivals, so could also be an option for them to use instead of a damp and muddy tent site.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/v...

Ducati S4 Monster - £5,295 (balance £16,769). A little selfishness, as since the arrival of the kids, I have been barred from 2 wheeled machines. I am assuming that my wife will let me get one, as she gets the camper van from this list....

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/motorbikes/...

Caterham Superlight R - £16,250 (balance £519). For some final fun on weekend hooning and potential track day/hillclimb fun this would be a final choice. Flying helmets an cycle screens would be a must and maybe spend the balance on a wild colour wrap to make your eyes hurt.

Currently owned: Mercedes 190E, Porsche Cayman (gen1), Juno SSE-CN (co-owned race car).

On the shortlist: Lotus Esprit GT3, late model with buckets. If I ever find one mint enough, I'd swap the Cayman for it. Always wanted an Esprit.

Boxster Spyder with no options (well PCCBs are acceptable). Porsches masterpiece. The Cayman being more practical to use more often is the only reason I've not got one.

Lotus S1 Elise S135. THE Lotus Elise. The best one they ever made.

Caterham 160R. Daren't drive one. If it embodies the sheer amount of fun you used to have in the old Classic (and I expect it does), it's probably the most fun you can have in a car with your clothes on.

Mercedes 280SL. The only thing that'd get me out of my 190E is a really nice SL...

"Now to that fictitious £100K!"

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...
Mercedes-Benz 380SL
Cost: £13,495
Balance: £86,505
Why I chose it: It's getting costly to get a decent SL. Colour combo and V8 get this one (that looks really rather tasty) down to sensible money. It'd be my daily replacement for the 190E.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...
Lotus Esprit GT3
Cost: £21,995
Balance: £64,510
Why I chose it: The closest thing currently in the classifieds to my perfect GT3.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...
Morgan 3-Wheeler
Cost: £25,950
Balance: £38,560
Why I chose it: Love them. Done the Caterfield thing, so with my £100k budget I'd splash out on a Morgan. I really daren't have a go of one of these as I suspect I'd need one… So…much…fun…

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...
1965 Ford Mustang Convertible
Cost: £29,995
Balance: £8565
Why I chose it: Love muscle cars, and this one is pretty and has nice modern bits on it to make it useable. Otherwise, just look at it. Imagine burbling along in our 2 weeks of summer… Hell yes. Indeed… If I had the cash now, I'd be tempted to go look at that one *cries*

Change would be needed to put some of the wrong things right wink I'd like the correct buckets in the Esprit for example. That and running costs, which would be cataclysmic on the 'Stang wink

This looks like a fun competition - Assuming I'm not allowed to keep the current fleet too then I'm going for:

612 Scaglietti F1 (£55k) in a beautiful Le Mans Blue - waft or hoon with four up smile
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/f...

M5 E61 Tourer (£19.5k) for when the dogs want to hoon too (I don't even have dogs but I'd get some with the change). This is a consideration in the real world, as that's a lot of car for the money.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

Z3M Coupe (£17k) - fancied one of these for a while and Estoril is the colour to choose IMHO. Might need some more spannering than the other cars, but ideal when the dogs and kids want to stay at home. (I've got a Street Triple for when the wife wants to stay home too!).
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

Smart Roadster Coupe (£2.5k) small beer for a fun car, and would help with the carbon offset (can you add cars and claiming it makes you more carbon neutral?) Might end up with a few miles on this one when the petrol money is used up by the other three!
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/s...

Last but not least, some 4x4 winter wheels... why not have a V6 Brera as a winter snotter (£4.5k), and put some of the remaining £1.5k into some spare alloys and winter tyres.
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Happy Days smile Hang on, I wanted a Z4M roadster for some wind in the hair moments, might have to have anohter look tomorrow wink

Is there where they are getting all the posts from? Anyway here's mine

Name: James Blayney

Previously owned: 2000 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 16v SXi

Currently owned: 2008 Renault Twingo 1.2 TCe GT, 1989 Mini 998 (Twin HS2 carbs, maniflow exhaust etc)

On the shortlist: Realistically we are looking at a mk3 MR2 next year perhaps. I'd list everything I'd like to have but I'm afraid there isn't enough room, I will mention a few that didn't make it into this list though:
Porsche 911. I'd take almost any 911 I could get my hands on.
Ford Escort mk1. Prices have gone stratospheric but I still want one.
Alfa Romeo GTA. Again too expensive, other options are available, but I didn't chose one as you will read later.
Alpine A110. Too expensive and hard to find for this list, but I want one so much.

"Now to that fictitious £100K!"

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/d...
Dodge Viper GTS
Cost: £44,995
Balance: £55,005
Why I chose it: I have wanted a Viper since I was a small child. I'd rather it in the classic blue with white stripes, but this one is the only one available at the moment. I just can't say no to that massive V10 and I think they handled a lot better than people think.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...
Lotus Elise S2
Cost: £12,750
Balance: £42,255
Why I chose it: I love the look of the S2 Elise and it is my "realistic" dream car. It's been my motivation since I went to University. This one happens to be in the correct colour and wheel combo for me and has the added bonus of that Larini exhaust.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/s...
Subaru Impreza Type R
Cost: £6,750
Balance: £35,505
Why I chose it: Another childhood hero car. I loved Colin McRae and for me this is the best Impreza for reasonable money. This one seems to be pretty standard as well which I think would make a decent investment.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...
BMW 2002
Cost: £10,350
Balance: £25,255
Why I chose it: I wanted a classic and it was between this and an Alfa GT(A/V/Junior), the Alfa commands too much money for the budget. This is really lovely though and my Dad used to have one so I like that link.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/l...
Land Rover Defender 110 (ex military)
Cost: £9,750
Balance: £15,505
Why I chose it: I fancy having a go at some off roading. It doesn't have to be ex-military, but I love the idea that it is. It just looks so cool.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/r...
Renault Clio Williams 2
Cost: £5,995
Balance: £9,510
Why I chose it: I love French cars, and in particular Renault. We have had a lot of them in our family. I love the small Renaults the most. This one looks fantastic and I'm guessing will only appreciate over time.

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C506012
1978 Vauxhall Cavalier Coupe
Cost: £3,995
Balance: £5,515
Why I chose it: I have a thing for 70's Vauxhalls. I'd have a Chevette, or even earlier a Firenza or Ventora (my Dad had a Ventora FD). This one looks nicely modified to me. I had to go outside of PH to find it though.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...
Citroen C1
Cost: £4,924
Balance: £591
Why I chose it: I need something to commute in. Now I have borrowed my Dads C1 a few times to get to work and they are geared hilariously. Yes they are a cheap, a bit noisey, slow etc. However they cost next to nothing to run and it makes me laugh that it will sit at motorway speeds with barely any revs and do it all day long no problem.

I think that covers most bases for me!

Name: David Catterick
Previously owned: 2006 Kia Picanto S, my first car so what do you expect? Was never really sure why they bothered to put an 'S' badge on it; it certainly didn't mean Sport!
Currently owned: 2010 Mitsubishi Colt Ralliart
On the short list: I spent a long time working out what kind of vehicles I would pick (a little too much time if I'm honest), and I came to the conclusion that I would spend the 100k on a workhorse for every day milling about, a family car, a GT for those long drives down to the south of France and a huge lump of power for those trips to Le Mans.

2005 Bentley Continental Flying Spur
Cost: £33,980
Balance: £66,020
Why I Chose It: The Grand Tourer/Family Car. There were many contenders for this position in my garage, from an Aston DB9 to a Ferrari 412. The flying spur won though. To me this is the ultimate family car; the upholstery, specification and appearance of it shout luxury saloon. But it has that wonderful W12 under the bonnet for those moments when my childish nature takes over and I feel the need to floor it everywhere!

1994 Dodge Viper RT-10
Cost: £34,995
Balance: £31,025
Why I Chose It: The Big Lump. The poster car of my childhood, the original Dodge Viper with that big V10 engine up front. My dad's boss had one of these, albeit the GTS version, and I fell in love with it as a young lad and lets face it, it's a viper; it's cool! I loved the styling of the early RT models with those iconic three spoke alloys. If there's any money left over at the end then it may take a trip to a Hennessey garage and become even more potent, not that it needs it.

2004 Land Rover Defender
Cost: £11,995
Balance: £19,030
Why I Chose It: The Workhorse. Not much explanation needed here. On occasion everyone wishes they had something as versatile as the land rover defender. This early 2004my defender has the bulletproof TD5 engine and a nicely spec'd interior, complete with working heaters (anyone who had an old defender will know that pain). A nice example too in a slightly less popular metallic red, the led running lights (which I suspect are aftermarket!!!) will have to go though. Again a little upgrade from the boys at Twisted Motorsport might be required if the budget will allow it.

2000 Lotus Elise S1 Sport 160
Cost: £12,990
Balance: £6,040
Why I Chose It: The Weekender/Track Day. One of the greats to come off the line at Hethel, the Sport 160 S1. I would have preferred an Esprit Sport 350 but the budget couldn't quite stretch that far. I have always loved Lotus' for their simplicity and lightweight philosophy. The sport 160 uses the K-series 1.8 producing ... you guessed it ... 160bhp as opposed to the usual 118bhp the standard S1 had (though it may have lost a few by now), and in my mind was the ultimate Elise to date. A nice car for pottering around on the weekends and occasionally bombing round Brands Hatch in.

I have no other cars that I would want to include for the sake of spending the remaining balance. The rest would go on upgrades for the cars I have chosen, or simply a tank or two for the viper!

think you will find the Elise Sport 160 is a tuned version of the K series so pushes out 160 not 118 bhp.... clue is in the name.... Its a rocketship all the same

Yep, nothing like making a fool of yourself to other petrolheads. Realised I put that after I posted it, also realised I said the Flying Spur was a V12 when actually it's a W12! But yes you're right, my dad had one and they are very quick!!!

Fancied having a go at this, so going to bump this thread again!

At 21 with no dependants and only a 12 mile round trip for work each day I can be a little less sensible than some people I guess...

1. Porsche 911 Turbo (997) - £47,950

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

Okay so this one does blow pretty much half the budget. However there are a few reasons I picked it. Firstly it was the first properly quick car I ever drove and it literally blew me away at how easy it was to drive quickly. I've also had a huge thing for Porsches since a young age and I just know if I ever came into a lot of money it would be the first thing I'd run out and buy. This would be my Weekend and evening car, probably wouldn't use it to get to work and back but it certainly wouldn't be a garage queen. I would also certainly get an extended warranty for it though!

2. Peugeot 106 Gti - £3,000

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

My first ever car was a 106 1.1, I loved it so much I went and bought the Gti when I could afford the insurance and loved that even more. I regret selling it but I did manage to put 15,000 miles on the clock and still nearly doubled the price I bought it for. I would need to buy another without any particular reason I think, possibly the occasional track day. There isn't a huge amount to choose from with these anymore, I would pick another Cherry red if possible but since there isn't any for sale this Onyx Black will have to do. Get rid of the morrettes, sort the wheels out and I'd be happy.

3. Vauxhall VXR220 Turbo - £21,500

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/v...

This would be my dedicated track car. Probably not a lot of peoples first choice but I do have my reasons. One is that it is pretty much ready to go, harnesses etc, It's also a hardtop. The Vauxhall VXR are usually a b it mad and that is exactly what I would want for track. In red this looks the part, will be more than quick enough and will be something I can really learn to drive quickly.

4. Audi A4 Avant 3.0 Tdi Black Edition - £24,995

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...

Yes I know this is too much of an obvious choice and it's not hugely imaginative, it's also pretty sensible but there are reasons. Firstly I would need something to tow about the VXR220 as I wouldn't fancy driving that all over the country to trackdays and car shows etc. I also go on trips away with friends a lot and a fair bit of driving to football matches across the country. This would be the perfect tool for all those jobs. Well specced, reasonable on fuel, looks nice and would be big enough to fit in 4/5 people and a fair bit of luggage. This would be my daily driver and the one that would rack up the most miles. I was tempted for an S4 but this is £100k to buy the cars, I wouldn't fancy running one everyday, may as well save the fuel costs for the 911!

5. BMW E30 325i Convertible - £1200

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/b...

Always fancied an old BMW, I also fancy trying out drifting at some DWYB events. It wouldn't need to be road legal as I could trailer it to the events. It would get a few knocks anyway so bodywork isn't a big deal. but it has enough power and would look far cooler than the usual array of E36's at those events. So this would be my retro drift car.

That leaves me with £1355 for tyres for the track and drift car, and a few tanks of fuel for the Porsche smile

Wifes Daily - Sounds like thunder, will carry the Labrador and inevitable children comfortably at speed

Weekends - Worked at Fernies as a youngster, always loved the Chim 500.

Ducati 899 panigale £11.995. not an image from PH as the seller hadn't supplied one. I also don't have a bike licence yet, but i'd be getting one just to drive this.

Its all italian, that wasn't really intended. Maybe i should buy an old volvo with the remaining money so that i always have something running hehe
