Hope you don't take it personally but that's the worst selection by far.

A 4WD 320d (M Sport no less), a diesel roadster and a tiptronic 911...
i agree, but in terms of my lifestyle it would work perfectly

basic diesel saloon, with some prestige, is covered by the bmw. i live on a hill so in winter the 4 wheel drive would be ideal. and i dont want or need a true 4x4

the wife would be more than happy with a slk, the diesel would help her in terms of the 26k a year she does on the motorway

the porsche, most would say get a gt3 etc. but i would need 4 seats, just to cover me if the wife had taken the bmw, and i needed to take the kids somewhere. at 13 and 10 year old short journeys wouldnt be an issue.
the turbo would suit as its nice and fast, the tiptronic i can take or leave. i personally dont mind auto boxes. but as i havnt driven a 911 turbo i am happy to say on paper it would do for me

hope it makes sense, and its not quite the flash / exotic garage that some may like. but its actually a garage that would work for me. given i dont have a lottery win to top it up

Nice choices. I have just collected my c63 estate (to accompany my R26.R) and bar being fleeced by les gendarmes to the tune of 750 Euros in France at the weekend (tossers), it is a superb vehicle.
Congrats on the new vehicle! Do you mind me asking about the speeds involved in your recent wallet lightening experience?

I've heard that up to +50kph over the speed limit is just the standard 90 euro fine, then above that you are at risk of more, just wanted to know if your experience is in line with that.

Nice to know what the risk is when setting the cruise control for a cross country blat in France.

So is this a competition by any chance wink
It is a shrewd marketing exercise to promote PH Classifieds wink

PS. I like PHC. Its functionality is slightly better than AT, EBay and others (despite the recent toytown-graphics upgrade).

Honda Civic FD2 TYPE-R

Cost:£15,795
Balance:£84,205
Why I choose it: My love for Honda and the amazing engines they produce has attracted me to this particular model. More powerful than the Euro-spec FN2 and considerably better spec'd with a LSD and an uprated engine as standard. As well as this it has 4 doors allowing you to take your family along for the 9000rpm experience! It's even in Championship White! biggrin

Nissan R32 GT-R

Cost:10,995
Balance:73,210
Why I choose it: Does it need any introduction? The original Godzilla! Battle honours from around the world from Australia to Europe, it dominated any series it was entered in and began a legacy that rivals the likes of the 911. A racing car barley disguised as a road car and in its day put the fear of god in Europe's finest. The R32 GT-R was and is a legend. I'd honestly love a totally original and unmolested example but of course very hard to find.

Nissan R35 GT-R (Lichfield stage 1 upgrade)

Cost:£36,000
Balance: 37,210
Why I choose it: Very hard to find something with the 'bang for buck' that the R35 provides. With the Lichfield stage 1 upgrade you will have all the performance you'll ever need in a usable and elegant package (would maybe remove the rear spoiler for added stealthness). It would also make a great addition alongside the R32 in my imaginary garage!

Land Rover Defender double cab pick up

Cost: £13,980
Balance:£23,230
Why I choose it: My uncle has one and was in stitches as we went for a run around the block. Most fun I've had in a car! It bounces and rattles as it makes its way down the road. So much character and usability thanks to its off-road ruggedness and load capacity. Definitely on my list of cars to own and keep forever!

Maserati Quattroporte GTS

Cost:£25,000 (Lets call it £23,230)
Balance:£0.0
Why I choose it: Ok not entirely within budget but I'd haggle hard for that price! biggrin Although it would undoubtedly ruin you with the running costs and servicing I wouldn't care because with that Ferrari derived V8 and a body ,which manages to be both sexy and sophisticated, you have one of the truly great modern Italian exotica. Not only is it a car which you can take to any occasion with pride but at a moment notice can rip your face off with rip-snorting Italian fury! Fantastic car.

Currently owned: Renault 5 Turbo; Mitsubishi Shogun 2.6 BBR Turbo; Saab 9-5 Aero 2.3T Estate;

On the shortlist: To be honest, my current cars meet almost all the criteria – there is only one real ingredient missing and that’s a proper works racing car; so, all £100,000 or possibly more (its POA in the ad), would go towards funding this:

Alfa Romeo 75 Turbo Evolution – Alfa Corse works WTCC
Spectacularly unsuccessful in the late 1980’s (I think I remember them on TV being overtaken by Vauxhall Astra’s in the DTM series) but unbelievable exciting to me and having been at the HSCC Easter Revival at Thruxton Circuit I’d be itching to get this on the track in the Super Touring Championship.

Would look a bit odd towed behind my old, multi-coloured Shogun and camping overnight but I’d think it would be worth it.

I'm surprised at how dull peoples choices are.

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/r...

http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/c...

And probably a Formula Renault or something like that.

Oh and a trailer and a VW Transporter for mountain biking.

I couldn't give a piss about road cars.

On the shortlist: I thought that I would immediately be drawn to the big name silly stuff (Lambo, Ferrari, Porsche) but, in the end, I couldn't quite put them in my "dream" garage".
What Kind of 355 do you have? What is it like? My dream car, the first on this list:

F355 Berlinetta, Manual........ 50k
Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2... 25k
TVR Cerbera 4.2................ 15k (ish)
Alfa 159 Saloon.................10k

I must admit no the most reliable garage, but bloody lovely. Use the Alfa as a daily hack I recon.

Ferrari 355 Spider/GTS with a Tubi/Capristo exhaust, and that lovely open gated manual gearbox.
Ariel Atom
A cheapish Gallardo or R8 with the leftovers. And some straight pipes please.
