I've had the absolute pleasure of being trained by Dirk at the 'Ring. He's one of the most genuine, humble and interesting guys I've had the pleasure of spending a day with, and could talk for hours about racing. Zero pretense, no ego at all, and a mighty peddler....in the most uneblieveably smooth way possible! And what he doesn't know about the Nurburg1ring and it's nuiances, simply isn't worth knowning. And he literally always has 10mins for a chat every time I see him. Top bloke of the toppest variety
Same experience as you in every respect , but he's an even "topper bloke", than you say ! Sure if he reads this he'll be blushing ? Does " Keep it, keep it , keep it" ring any bells ?Edited by RacerMike on Thursday 24th April 10:35
It's true the speedo makes it look very impressive.
Ok, it's not scientific, but I ran this video side by side compared to a passenger lap I filmed in a R35 on a trackday in 2010 (no Ringmeister but he knew the track pretty well). That was quicker almost everywhere, so I conclude this R34 is not as silly fast as it first appears.
