I do agree to an extent, this for example is hideous.

These on the other hand are beautiful

I am somewhat disappointed it's not quite what I thought it was when I first saw it on my phone.

Mine's called "light cappuccino", but it's brown.............The good thing, I had it washed today for the first time in 3000 miles, it didn't look that grubby apart from the brake dust. Better then white........

Strangely I was just thinking about the increase in 'poo' coloured cars I'd seen recently. Mainly German it must be said but st colours have been coming back into fashion recently much like white.

Wife's got a brilliant copper Countryman after much deliberation between that and red. I like it now... Classy?

Just been out, and a brown RR Evoque drove past me, with black wheels.

It looked absolutely amazing in my opinion...

Yup, I saw a 14 plate one like that just a few days ago, and it stood out as not that colour on an Evoque before, so guessing it's a recent addition to the colour palette?

I've been called everything from 'tasteless' to 'mental' with my love for a 'brown' colour option on Porsche 911's. The official colour designation is 'Macademia' - but having seen one in the flesh, yeah, it is basically metallic brown.

But I love it. If I ever get rich enough to own another 911, it will be in this colour. What do you reckon? Lovely, no? cloud9

Me and a mate agree with you. Great colour on a 911.

I'm not a fan. There is a 1 series that I see in the train station in a brown colour and it's awful...it makes an ugly car look even more ugly.

Saying that the whole white car thing has been done to death and silver, grey and black are really, really dull. Not many seem to be willing to opt for a brighter / more interesting colout.
The psychology of colour, and particularly on cars, is interesting. I hate the rich metallic brown examples on this thread irrespective of whether it's a Porsche or an Allegro, but don't mind the lighter brown/fawn metallics. I also hate yellow on any car. Can't explain why, just do.

Can any psychologist PHers explain why we love some colours and not others?

Seen a new Fiesta in brown. Can't say it was its best colour. Have also seen a few Renaults in brown too. Worst was a Fiat 500 in brown. With that shape it looked like a large dog had left it behind. Each to their own but I can't see me buying a modern brown car.

Although I did own a "gazelle beige " Cavalier. Which was basically yellow. The car was given to me so I wasn't complaining. That replaced my first car, a 1980 Fiesta in a horrible tan colour.

The Ford Mondeo in question must have been Lunar Sky.

Audi Exclusive Ipanema Brown is a particularly nice brown.

As already posted, I'm not a great fan of brown cars but if it gets a bit of variation going on compared to the mass of black, white and 'maximum resale value' silver, I'm all for it.
