I think brown cars are like dogs, great when they belong to someone else

I do agree to an extent, this for example is hideous.
That was a pretty popular colour for those.

Don't recall seeing many black, silver or grey ones - a few white ones though driven by fashionista wink

Russet Brown was a very popular choice on a lot of other BL stuff from the same era, Mini's, Stag's, 2000/2500's, TR7's, Range Rovers, SDI's, Spitfires, MGB's etc.

A friend of my Dad had a Russet Brown 2500S estate.

The 70's;
Russet (BL), Bark Metallic (Talbot/Chrysler), Roman Bronze (Ford), Milan Brown (shame on you M-B).
Often seen with a vinyl roof and contrasting velour.
If you're too young to remember that's your advantage.
Believe me, you don't want it back.
A car, is a sophisticated piece of engineering, would you want a brown iPod?
I rest my case.

No, not lovely! It looks a little......, brown.
911s should be 'sharp blue', like the one I had. This was my first car and the one I taught my wife to drive in 20 something years ago. She's doing a hand stand on the beach because she'd just learned how to control the nasty rear end tendency of 1980's 911s
What is it with girls and hand stands ?

Anyway, on topic -

Around 1980 I painted a van for an Asian guy.... He wanted cheap... Very cheap. He moaned at the price of the paint and I said I could use some cock up colour that the paint supplier had mixed up slightly wrong.... But even that was too expensive.

In the end I used the slops from the bucket the paint company threw their discarded paint. It was brown.... Slops are always brown.... So I painted this van. In st brown... It really was like ... We'll st. Even the owner winced when he saw it.

Since then I just can't get my head around a brown car....

As far as I recall I've only ever had one brown car; a BMW e21. This was the original 3 series, with the overbite/sharknose front. It's a magnificent looking car; in any colour except dysentry beige, which mine was. If it had been red it might still have been alive today.

Nobody should be driving a car the same colour as my loggers. It's not right.

Here's a nice brown Urraco. When I was a kid, there was a lovely brown Berlinetta Boxer near where we lived in Petts Wood.
