There are no coupes.

Similar predicament here... have owned my supercharged MX5 for 12 years - like me its getting old and tired. I want a small-ish RWD coupe, with decent power, reliability and able to fit into a standard garage in a block for insurance reasons, reasonably new and/or still in production... with a budget of £15k, maybe a little more (considering i spent £14k on the MX5, 12 years ago...i like to get my moneys worth!)
Toyota GT86: Like the looks and the ethos - but its slower than my mx5...
Nissan 370z: Looks a bit questionable, but having a phat 3.7 V6 appeals to me as i like lazy torque and i dont do big mileage, so MPG isnt a massive issue. Only just starting to drop to my budget. Dont think it would squeeze in my garage though!
BMW Z4/Z4M Coupe: My ultimate car in terms of looks. The M prices seem to be rising, and i suppose some of them are getting a little old now (2006/2007). The basic 3.0 is still in the running as they are a couple of grand cheaper.
Porsche Cayman: Driven a 2.7 briefly, so could only imagine a 3.4s would be even better. The spectre of shocking running costs and engine reliability hangs over this choice. On the other hand, would be nice to have the Porsche experience while im still young.
Then i think to my current Mx5... servicing costs are virtually nil (free oil from a mate, oil /brake changes done myself, £200 p/a insurance, reasonable mpg, cheap tyres...
aaaarrrgh decisions!

I know what the OP means (I'm on my second Hyunda Coupe), there are a few options:
Alfa Brera
Alfa GT
Audi A5
Audi TT
BMW 3 Series
Hyundai Veloster
Mazda RX8
Nissan 350Z/370Z
Peugeot RCZ
Renault Laguna Coupe
Renault Megane Coupe
Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT86
Vauxhall Monaro
VW Scirocco
I don't PCP or take out loans for cars and generally limit myself to around £10k inc trade in, so if I was in the market to purchase a replacement stylish coupe; 2005-6 or newer with reasonable mileage, history, etc.
What would I go for?
Let's rule out the Alfa's straight away as any one "I" buy will be utterly unreliable and ruinously expensive to continuously repair.
Price currently rules out the A5, 370Z, BRZ and GT86, plus 3 Series and TTs are going to be older or leggy.
The 3 Series, Veloster, Megane, Monaro and Scirocco aren't real coupes, at least in the styling stakes, in my opinion.
That leaves the RX8, Laguna Coupe and the RCZ, the Laguna Coupe sold in very small numbers and is quite hard to find, plus I'm not convinced by the front styling. The RX8, well would I take a punt and could I live with the mpg? Probably not.
Final option the RCZ. I quite like it despite the Aldi TT image, having never driven one I would need to because it is a pig to drive then I'll be done with coupes for a while and will be buying a saloon or hatch next.

I live with the mpg of the RX-8 quite happily 1) Life is too short , 2) I drive it like I stole it so I am expecting the mpg. 3) The mpg is actually better when you do drive it like you stole it. Take it on the b-roads and you'll forget about the mpg.Audi A5

It's rubbish isn't it. I ended up with a 350Z as it was the closest to what I wanted, but it is not perfect. I like the Alfa V6 GT, but FWD put me off, and the only other serious option was a 3.0 Z4 coupe, but it was more money and I hated the steering and tramlining.
I think a supercharged GT86 would be perfeect for me, just waiting for them to fall to £10k

Thanks for the suggestions. All well trodden ground for me, most rejected on the basis of unworkable mpg, being "old" or a financial liability.
Choose your compromise, I suppose.
It seems to me like 15 years ago there were more options. This was my main point, along with some bhing about cars that I wish existed.

If anything I think there's more coupes (or at least cars called coupes by their manufacturer) on the market now than there ever has been before.
Really?Manufacturers used to make many more coupes in the 90s - 00s:
Coupes no longer made by: Alfa (used to have GT, GTV, Brera), Ford (used to have Probe, Cougar, Puma), Honda (used to have Integra, Prelude, Civic Coupe, Accord Coupe), Vauxhall (used to have Calibra, Tigra, Astra Coupe), Mitsubishi (used to have FTO, GTO), Mazda (used to have MX-3, MX-6, RX-7, RX-8).
Only one coupe made by: Nissan 370Z (used to have 100NX, 200SX, 350ZX), Toyota GT86 (used to have Paseo, Celica, Supra)
No doubt there are other examples.

OP - I have also not bothered to read what it is you are looking for, but have you considered a Unimog?I've not listened to your list at all but what about a Smart Forfour Brabus?

I have no interest in what you are looking to find, but I like Unimogs so I thought I'd recommend it as being suitable for your needs.

I don't get the reverse snobbery about financing a car. Unless you earn mega, mega money, how are you ever going to save up enough to buy the car of your dreams?
This mentality confines you to driving stboxes. Meanwhile, people are having fun in the cars they want whilst you take the moral high ground on an internet forum - nice job.
You may be dead tomorrow, enjoy the ONE life you get!*
- Don't forget the mortgage.
