Paying different comp depending on the market is silly however. A massive own goal and far less forgiveable than the engine failure. It smacks of too much local autonomy for panicked dealer networks and too little central coordination of response from HQ.

They should have shown some balls at HQ and not permitted any comp. But rather immediately offered all customers their choice of temporary replacement VAG vehicle up to the same value as a GT3. Funded by Porsche HQ.

How arrogant are Porsche, seriously? So much bad press about them recently. Definitely limits the appeal of the brand for the second hand market, I'd hate to be fighting with them out of warranty if this is how they behave?

Terrible service.

In regards to highest prices... well, complete nonsense. The UK is pretty good compared to some parts of the world. For example having a look at the classifieds here this year's Carrera 4S is a mere £195 000. If you're looking to buy second hand it's far worse than the UK since you don't get nearly the same depreciation. So count yourself lucky in the UK in regards to prices!
Actually, yeah, it probably just feels like we have the highest prices in the UK because general pay levels are so st!

If you want a 991 GT3 specifically then yes, there is no alternative but you van say that about anything. I keep hearing this and it does not compute. There's a pretty good selection of track focussed quick cars out there that are not GT3s last time I checked.

Why so many people ARE surprised regarding the thinking and action, of Porsche AG over their past recent history is interesting.Look back from the times when they were on an Allout war of attrition to takeover VW AG.The methods used and devious means to aquire shares to control, by fair means means or foul, were the reason why they lost the battle------But Never learnt the lesson.
Their DNA was-IS, why they conduct their business with utter contempt for ALL who question their methods, and WHY anyone accepts this after All the examples shown, is a mystery. Now that questions are being asked, with All of this unacceptable conduct, the time has arrived for VAG to finally act in the best interests of its shareholders---and perhaps the paying public who buy the products.

I can assure you there is still a huge difference between higher wages and the car prices here. There is a reason very few cars have anything other than the smallest engine, and that Teslas have been so popular (they get a tax break due to being electric, so for the performance versus price nothing comes near them). I've seen more nice cars in London in a day than I have seen here in my 3+ years.

Porsche really have made a huge mistake by the look of it. However Porsche is just another VW brand now. The latest news that the Macca will have a four cylinder VW Golf engine also used in the Q5 and that Cayman production has now been moved to the VW Golf factory just confirms that.
Singer 911 is the only Porsche to buy ironically.

Oh what a mess!

Porsche are no longer keepers of their own destiny and are part of the VAG machine.

The small things are now worth less than the big, economies of scale are now king.

Indeed the Tourag helped Porsche make a lot of money with the Cayenne.

Economies of scale go on everywhere - to blame this debacle on the VAG machine is perhaps unfair. Things went wrong, and there are probably more checks and balances at VW than Porsche could afford. Unfortunate situation that will soon be forgiven by the aficionados , but never forgotten by anyone.

I'll happily be corrected; but I can't think of anything with the combination of performance, talent, lineage and prestige for up to £100k... you're asking customers to pitch significantly up or down market once they cancel the GT3...

Only if they insist on getting new. I am pretty sure you can get a low mileage 360CS for the money...far more character and just as fun...oh and an appreciating asset.

Porsche GB are not well known for their goodwill. Which is why this GT3 engine replacement has been such a surprise.
Someone at Porsche has dropped the ball thinking that one country wouldn't talk to others, or they issued a statement to the countries saying "you decide what will make your customers happy? and Porsche GB thought what they normally do and said - phuckit.
Maybe they should send out this card to the GT3 owners

The UK GT3 customers are being subject to a business led treatment because they are, quite frankly IMHO, dim sycophantic idiots. Porsche are treating them this way because, well, they are being allowed to and believe it will be the cheapest option for them. Until GT3 owners/customers 'grow a pair' and do something about it then they will continue to be treated as the weak, gullible individuals they most certainly are.

The whole thing is an utter shambles, and whilst it can be seen as a first world problem of the highest magnitude if it is you in the position and you have plans over the summer being cancelled left right and center and you sold your 997 GT3 after notification by your OPC that your car was due on March 1st it is incredibly frustration, throw in the complete apathy demonstrated by Porsche GB and you really do feel unwanted and it turns what should have been a very exciting life moment into a stressful event you could well do without!

I bought a Vantage V12 S and voted with my feet but few will and those that do will be replaced by eager punters waiting to snap up the cancelled orders, Porsche will not care less frown

But the high prices in Norway is due to high taxes, I doubt Porsche charges more for the base car there.

Would be interesting to compare the pre tax price though.
