Lupo GTI prices have been ridiculous for a while, I wouldn't mind but they're just a slow tiny hatch!

This:
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...
It's been for sale for years (literally - in the true sense of the word)
It's essentially a run of the mill RX7 with some JDM body parts that was fettled by a Japanese tuning company. IT's not a 'rare widebody', it's a normal shell with some fibreglass wings. It's a 6/7k car.
It's also ugly as hell.

Also from the RX7 world, http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/m...
Although It's not at the Circa 50k it was originally priced at (if my memory serves correctly)

Blame the VW scene! They have made this car have rock solid residuals.

The Lupo is a very nice looking car, very cute, I'd get the entry level one.

An early Lotus Elan is a nice car, but looking at the prices, not that nice.

This is priced at £12450eek

It is essentially, exactly the same as

This

£750

Which is essentially the same as this...

£495

I find it hard to see how anyone would pay over 12k for what is over a 15yr old design of car, especially when you can get a facelift version, which is a completely new design of car, for a couple of grand less.
Totally agree, but look at all the late registered Xsara Picassos tooling around. Still in production long after the C4 Picasso came out. Main Dealer told me he couldn't get enough of them at the time because the old dears loved them and didn't like change. Citroen were producing new ones right up to 2009 I think.

6 or 7k for a fiat coupe 20V turbo. Granted it had a receipt for over 14k worth of mods including a forged engine block at 4k alone. But at the end of the day it's a bit old hat and all the others are about 1/6 the price.
A forged engine block !! B*********S No such thing

Lupo GTis ate fantastic little cars and at least as much fun as Cooper Ss or other assorted small hatchbacks from that day.

Might be a bit biased though wink

Wouldn't pay GBP8k for one though.

This company always have a handful of these at nearly £50k and it always intrigued me why. I love the CSL E46 M3 and they are mint looking with low miles but £50k? Do I need a whoosh parrot...?

The Lupo GTI would be worth that if it were an 05 plate with a better spec such as 5-speed, climate control and leathers but thats a very basic spec early car and the only thing going for it is the low miles. Dealers dreaming!

I know the VW scene has alot to do with it but other sought after VW cars haven't gone this mental.
You can still pick up a decent MK2 GTI for less than £2k, good one for under £4k.

Heck you can pick up a 07/07 Golf GTI with all the toys for less than £8k.

When we moved our offices to Wareham three years ago this car was for sale for this price. It occasionally moves between showrooms, but is still for sale now.

These are getting quite rare now, but really? £2,500? It's a bit of a wreck! Lacquer peel, odd bumper, etc

Hexagon prices have been that way for as long as I can remember!

Having said that a low mileage CSL was on here for nearly 80k and gather it sold...

can't be bothered finding links, but pick any 50's, 60's, 70's vw camper or van you want for examples of pricing gone mental.

weirdly or perhaps not the same is happening with the T25's (the 80's ones)

I appreciate its the scene- but I had loads of these, many years ago, when they were relatively newish.

they were rubbish then, as cheap, mechanically perfect vehicles, let alone 30/40 year old things. long drives in them, which is what you did as camper vans, was always a horrible event.

although, I did enjoy it at the time, thought I was quite cool............

wouldn't touch them these days and I loved the point where I started running the new front engined diesel vw campers instead.
