How about this one for a good laugh, I pray to god they were off their face on acid while doing the advert: http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2013...

EDIT: Vauxhall's are obviously very keen, this one is definitely an up and coming Classic Car, given the price, amirite? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2014...

These have GOT to be a joke??

That Astra is worth a grand on an exceptional day, but pushing 9? Almost tempted to call up and ask if there is an extra figure in the price laugh

I know it is very rare, but nearly £250,000 for a mid-nineties Aston puzzles me... epic car though!

Totally agree, but look at all the late registered Xsara Picassos tooling around. Still in production long after the C4 Picasso came out. Main Dealer told me he couldn't get enough of them at the time because the old dears loved them and didn't like change. Citroen were producing new ones right up to 2009 I think.
I remember Citroen advertising the Xsara Picasso for £9,995 brand new OTR towards the end. A well-specced, spanking new family bus with full manufacturer warranty for under £10k is a bit of a bargain. I am not surprised they sold well. OK it's dull and boring, but who buys cars like this with anything other than their head?

God they are ugly though

There's a garage on the North circular with some what looks like rubbish cars from the 80's that are up at very expensive prices. Sadly I can't remember the name of the garage.

Don't I bloody know it. My FIL had one "the best car I ever had". Traded it for a Nissan Tino. He's got a 2.3 petrol Mazda CX7 that was mine on permenant loan now. He now doesn't talk about the Citroen or the Nissan.

I recall when the new Nissan Note came out he was seeing himself with anticipation.

The worst is my wife's grandpa. A devotee of the French stbox....always in that bloody light blue colour. His last one got written off in a flood. He's got a perfectly nice mid range C Max now, but still goes on about how Picassos are the best thing ever. He's considering buying the newest used old style Picasso he can find.

Taste aside, Citroen must have been doing something right to sell to the retired and not into cars market. The same goes for Nissan with the old Micra. Certain people love them.

That's as much as I paid for my A8 - which was 3 years newer, spotless, FSH and sales invoice stated purchase price of 73,000.

12k for a badly modified AE86. He'd be lucky to get half that.

Integrale Evos? No doubting they are an awesome car with pedigree but there seem to always seem to be lots for sale in the classifieds at £20-30k. A lot more for sale than normal Integrales and similarly priced E30 M3s. Do they actually sell at this price?

Are motorbikes allowed? There's a £100k Honda NR750 always doing the rounds.

Mental, saying that I recently foolishly walked into a Carcraft branch looking for a car for the Wife.

First car in the warehouse, 57 Plate Astra 5dr 1.4 Club, which is the exact car She has now, only this one had 20k more miles on it, was a year older and a different colour - they wanted 8 grand for it!! a whole £1000 more than my Wife paid for hers, when it was a low mileage ex-demo with a Vauxhall warranty.

They're a "we'll finance anyone" type of outfit, I was tempted to ask them for a trade-in deal for a laugh, but one of their "no hard sell" sales guys cornered us, melted my face with his terrible breath and assaulted by eyes with his horrible suit / tie combo and needed a actual, real life used-the-words-and-everything "fk off" before I could break away.

Horrible place.

I have seen a Brough Superior SS100 advertised for £195,000, and one sold by Bonhams fetched £157,000.

I know they are possibly the most desirable motorbike in history and have a massive cult following, but come on - £200k for an old motorbike?

can't be bothered finding links, but pick any 50's, 60's, 70's vw camper or van you want for examples of pricing gone mental.

weirdly or perhaps not the same is happening with the T25's (the 80's ones)

I appreciate its the scene- but I had loads of these, many years ago, when they were relatively newish.

they were rubbish then, as cheap, mechanically perfect vehicles, let alone 30/40 year old things. long drives in them, which is what you did as camper vans, was always a horrible event.

although, I did enjoy it at the time, thought I was quite cool............

wouldn't touch them these days and I loved the point where I started running the new front engined diesel vw campers instead.
Coming up to the season when they can be found littering the verge of the A30 smile

Panic-buy an A2 now while they are still cheap, that's my advice.

Yes, they can and do sell at these prices.

Not all of them, 70's Beetles are about as popular as syphilis you can buy them for a few grand - my Dad is having his restored now, it was probably worth about £1500 as it stood, a non-runner with flat non-standard paint and a bit of rust that had lived in our garage for about a decade since it last moved. He's just sunk more than 10 grand into it and could be worth upwards of £4000 once it's finished ha ha.

You can't put a price on nostalgia and he'll hardly miss the money.
