Have those people sold theirs?
Errrr no because the adverts are still on Autotrader... if only Autotrade had an archive of previously sold cars now there is an idea smile

I have now simplified the advert and removed the waffle.
Whoosh.

Anyway have you changed the price?

Price and petrol.

I have finally tonight shifted my 118i (2010 msport). It is on here still and was on autotrader Dropped it from £9k to £8k over a period of 2 months or so.

I think it is cheap at £8k but it was still getting little interest. I spoke to a couple of dealers just to see what they would give me but some said they wouldn't even want it because it's not a diesel and everyone wants a diesel.

I guess cheap road tax talks. Fools!

I wonder if private sales at this level is the issue.

I have a 52k mile e93 cab on the classifieds at £11k. No interest yet, even with the sun starting to shine.

I guess we now live in a finance economy where are buyer will pay £300/month for their car and don't have £15k to tie up in a car.

Thing is I personally think it's probably worth the price the OP is asking but as a private sale I doubt many other people will, I have sold 3 nice BMWs privately in the past and you have to be very aggressive with pricing, get it wrong and you've had it!

It was a pain in the arse every time, not something I'd want to be doing again.

Agree. Note the op got it as an AUC also (as did I mine), which probably says a lot too.

I'd say it's more a factor that you get a decent warranty on top of the finance options from a dealer, plus manufacturers mostly do extended warranties now.

With a private sale you could drive half a mile down the road and be out your £11k+ if it blows up because caveat emptor.

Unless you're pricing it well under dealer prices why would anyone take the risk?

2 of mine were AUC, try trading them back to them 12 months later, kick in the balls doesn't come close!

Uninspiring photos - in a car park frown

Sounds lame but first impressions last etc. Before reading all the blurb folk will judge a car on its surroundings.

Park it on an open field or in countryside environment.

Too much waffle as has been said.

Too pricey also unless you're prepared to wait for the right buyer.....which could be a loooooong time.

How do you link the poster to the car for sale out of curiosity?
Looking at his profile garage section and then searching the classifieds to find a matching car.

Advert is has a lot of waffle IMO. You have owned the car a very short time and now you are selling it to buy an M3. Doesn't really encourage a potential buyer that the car is awesome does it? "phonesafe" number too. Oh, and the price. eek

Is that the actual car? If so it's got a really naff personalised number plate. If I were buying I'd probably look at another one just to avoid the hassle of having to re-register the thing after purchase.

Also: finance! It's cheaper to get a brand new one on a lease deal at the moment. So why by second hand?

Lovely car, I particularly like the stealth appearance of the saloon. Personally if I was buying a car at that level I'd want the protection of buying from a dealer, I think that's a big part of the problem. The other is price, it needs to be a couple of grand cheaper IMO.

Thanks it's why I like the saloons. I think it's worth strong money because it still has warranty and is auc with full history. I'm not sure what a dealer could offer more and include it on the screen price??

Lovely car SBN but you're asking for too much money. It's that simple. Drop it by 2k and then be prepared to drop another 500 to sell.

Private sales getting more tricky, especially getting into 5 figure sums

They can offer finance deals you cant I don't know any people that could go out and pay 17k out right for a car. Why risk it to go private when you can get a car for a trader with 6 month statuary warranty of sorts via soga.

Ad has to much waffle, I couldn't give a fk why you where selling it so don't put it on there not many people care to there are only a few reason to sell a car
1 fancy something else
2 downgrading due to loss of job etc
3 its fked and you want rid of
4 partner told you to sell it
5 kids

If you were buying a car around that price range would you go private sale I wouldn't.
