£20k in 4 years time, eh i dont think so...
Any PCPs on these yet with GFV after 4 years @15k pa?

When did the E92 M3 drop below £30k?
Ages ago. Have dropped waaaay more than the C63. I think that might be a first?
I meant how many years did it take ie was it 3 years if so it retains c55% of its value (retail price) not part x price.
My E92 was worth £25k after 3 years and 55k miles. Was quite shocked TBH! Looking forward to my test drive in June.

Liking the saloon variant more than the coupe. Engine seems fine to me. Off to the configurator!

So £20k in 4 years is certainly possible

I guess the smart time to own one is year 2 to year 4

No different to the past. Look at an E36 M3 compared to an E36 328i sport. Or an E34 M5 compared to an E34 525i sport.....the newer cars have a much bigger difference in styling compared to their equivalent models when compared to the older generations, IMO.
Indeed. The great unwashed might struggle to spot the differences, but there is very little on that M3 that is indistinguishable from an MSport. The rear arches, and the blue paint look fantastic.

Interesting that BMW have put CCB on all the test cars, that black manual M4 as tested would be circa 70k.

Were there any steel braked cars to test? The CCB is a near 7k option and not one that many owners will spec the CCB has a positive effect not only on braking but handling too so I would be interested to read how a non CCB drives.

The M3 looks awesome.

The M4 looks a bit bloated to me, but then I do think that of the 4 series in general now. Its got a bit big.

I prefer the styling. Would you not have asked the same question for the last generation, why buy the M3 coupe when you could get the saloon? Obviously the market disagrees.

I'd be willing to bet that they'll sell more M4's than M3's....I may be wrong, mind.

Agreed but sadly none of the cars on the launch event had the standard brakes; pretty standard practice really and you can understand the logic of wanting to show off all the tech - ref. the Lamborghini launch where all the cars had the horrid Dynamic Steering.

We had to elbow a few folk out of the way to get into the manual too, given there was only one out of a fleet of 20 or so cars. But PH elbows are sharper than most... wink

Cheers,

not loving the sky blue colour at all.

Think on balance I'd take the saloon, dct, in black.

I'd bet not many people could feel the handling benefit!

They had 'your' car on display at the press conference/dinner; looked awesome! I'll see if I can find a pic.

This thing is almost the size of a E60 M5 (it's actually wider, but a bit shorter) so in my view is a world away from what I consider a M3 class of car (and yes I know every bloody car is getting massive these days compared to the equivilent of a decade or more ago) but where will it end...?
Will a RR Phantom sized vehicle be considered small and sporting in 20 years times.....!!???

Even the 2 Series coupe based forthcoming M2 will be E46 M3 sized if not a tad bigger and that will be neutered to stop treading on this behometh's toes.

Still, does seem to be a good car (leccy steering aside).

So. Endless moaning about how Porsche GT3's, RenaultSport Clio's, Ferrari's and Lambo's are no longer available with a manual gearbox, enter BMW with just that, and what is the verdict from PH?

Get the DCT.

There's just no pleasing some people...
Had to giggle at that. So true. I'd get the manual over the DCT because MANUAL. Yeah it's not as fast (don't care) or as frugal (always top of my list in a car like this.. mpg) but the choice is what matters. I'm damned sure I'd like the DCT - still, manual. "I" make a difference, right? :P

Perhaps but most of the reviews point to how much better the brakes are, but fail to mention that they are 6k extra. (although PH do point this out)

People have always complained about the M3s brakes although I've never had an issue with them, so for the press reviews to state the problem is solved when driving it on CCB is a bit misleading until we have the verdict on the new steels.

Last one was a sure bet, not convinced about this one. Enjoyed an E92 M3, but will probably get the saloon next time, looks good.

Those two videos really illustrate the difference between DCT and a manual to me, an issue I've never been too opinionated about. The DCT looks so dull and uninvolving.

& will be the choice for the majority.
