i just dont get white cars
Discussion
Price. Personally, even when spending new-car sums, it really begrudges me to spend extra on paint. White is often the only 'free' solid paint available on many marques. That said some manufactures have caught on and charge a premium for a 'special' solid paint, ie white, over the one remaining option - usually red!
I long for a lot more choice of non metallic colours!

Couldn't agree more. My guess is a lot of cars are leased and lease companies want the easy resale colours. BMW used to do some gorgeous colours (Techno Violet and Mystic Blue spring to mind) - how often do you see a BMW in any other colour other than the ones mentioned in the OP?
When I was looking for a new car last year, I had 2 requirements.
1. Not diesel (don't do enough mileage)
2. Not silver, grey or white (or any variation)
I ended up with a Burnt Orange MG6. Not everyone's cup of tea I'll be the first to admit, but I like it and a year on it still stands out. Makes it very easy to find in a car park as well
The scousers at the Halewood JLR factory refer to a similar colour as "EasyJet Stewardess Spray tan" when it comes through the assembly hall* When I was looking for a new car last year, I had 2 requirements.

If someone else is paying the leasing costs that's a good choice you've got there.
- As explained to me by a Quality Manager who is now in New Zealand.
I was chatting to a guy at work about white cars who firmly believes that the trend for white cars has come from Dubai, and Saudi.
Over there, white is functional paint colour through heat reflection.
However the west sees that there is a lot of wealth and associates this with the white cars.
Voila loads of white cars on our roads.

as for the black wheels etc, modern car design is extremely dull and repetitive and white can look washed out on many of them. some black accents such as rims and optics pacs / roof rails helps break this up, and looks great imo
opps forgot this, daft as i had 3 of them lol

^^^ I don't buy that at all, I just think; like many colours over time, it is just fashion led, not long ago it was silver, in a few years it will be another colour.
I totally agree with you,Just the latest 'in' colour.
When I was looking to buy I couldn't believe the price premium of white cars compared to silver.
the thing is you can post cars in white to justify how good looking they are, but you then can find a 'coloured' car that looks so much better.
The Audi rs4 looks so much better in colour, red, blue, the f430 in a blue would outlook any other colour.
White cars only really work on a few cars, pandas and ambulances

I have a white SL, I felt that it looks better in white than the other colours. Black hides a lot of the subtle curves on the car and I didn't really think any of the other colours were dramatic enough.
Plus, it's not an 'appliance' shade of white, of more of an egg shell sort of white, it's significantly darker than some hideous white Peugeot I parked next to the other day.
