o.k i know the trend is for white cars, but i see a new white car, black alloys and just think, why did you do it, it looks st.

i saw a 135m sport in white and another in orange, i thought why would anybody buy a white one, or i am missing something, where did all the colour go.

We just seem to be left with white, grey, battleship grey and light grey cars. is it because accountants all drive them?

I know people will post to cars in white and say how good looking they are and the paint technologies have made they better, but it just feel so dumbed down, so porridge.

Couldn't agree more. My guess is a lot of cars are leased and lease companies want the easy resale colours. BMW used to do some gorgeous colours (Techno Violet and Mystic Blue spring to mind) - how often do you see a BMW in any other colour other than the ones mentioned in the OP?

When I was looking for a new car last year, I had 2 requirements.

1. Not diesel (don't do enough mileage)
2. Not silver, grey or white (or any variation)

I ended up with a Burnt Orange MG6. Not everyone's cup of tea I'll be the first to admit, but I like it and a year on it still stands out. Makes it very easy to find in a car park as welllaugh

Because this is a discussion forum, and it's a discussion point. You could ask your question to most of the threads on this or any forum really.

I agree, about 95% of white cars look st.

Was fashionable for about 5 minutes, even then I didn't like it.

Iv got a Alpine white 130i which is quite rare I think ,it's a lot easier to keep clean than any other colour car iv owned, you only know its dirty when you start to wash it

I originally set out wanting anything but black, blue was top of the order but after I'd seen the alpine white my mind was made up!.When an orange/lime green etc rolls past I do ogle but there not for me

I'm no accountant either wink

Cue a st load of pictures of white cars, might aswell rename thread show me your white car lol

I think it depends on the car and the size of it. Anything three series size and above is a no for me but here is mine

Wheels and stripe are dark blue not black

White cars look st - in your opinion.

Not everyone likes the same thing. Shocker.

I like white cars. Porridge, you say? More like Miami Vice! This is England. Our green and pleasant land has all the earth tones we need in its natural scenery. I'm not a huge fan of black wheels, but whatever - they're only a small part of the car.

If it comes to grey, on the other hand, I'll be happy to sign the petition. fk grey, that's what I say. I've got a grey car, and while I mostly like it very much, that's because I'm usually sat inside it rather than looking at it. The colour is st. "Silver", the manufacturer claims. "bks", I say. It's shiny grey. And that's if I'm being generous.

(Its one saving grace is that, when clean, the wheels do match the paint, and the rubbing strips match the tyres. On the rare occasions I have it washed, it has this nice grey-black-grey-black thing going on, and visually, I think that looks quite good... for a car that's fking grey. I prefer the white-black-white colouring of that Honda.)

I have had both white and black cars, and both are a nightmare because they are impossible to keep clean. I have better things to do with my life than wash my car twice a week, so I will be sticking to more practical colours in future.

Fewer people crash into white cars. Or they did, back in the 60s, according to insurance figures.

Are white cars still as popular now? I certainly don't see that many, 'limited edition' Corsa's aside anyway.

I think a lot of Honda's suit white.

However the cayman doesn't do it for me.

All depends on the car IMO, parents have a 318d in white which I hate but family member has an s3 in white which I think suits the car.

When pricing up a new 5 series for work last week which will be leased, it was cheaper per month for a white car over a Metallic, the sales man said that it doesn't affect re sale as it once did.

So £600 for met paint costs about £5.00 per month

It's probably due to my 90s Volvo loving tendencies, but I view white cars as ex police , base spec models.

I prefer a bit of colour and depth to paintwork, but everyone is different.

i do find wgite cars 'work' from one angle, but i do feel it is a shame a lot of colour has gone from the roads, a saw a green 2002 Audi A8 yesterday and it looked good, a rare car.
