I reset my counter just as i left south wales and headed to Stoke a few days ago and upon arrival the readout was 41.3mpg. Thats from a 3.0 Z4.

The E39 530d daily "beater":

(Been averaging that for past couple of months.)

The Beast:

Absolutely shocking...but so much more fun!
How accurate is the 530d's consumption compared to the gauge?

My M5 is less than that, but can't get a pic til the weekend hehe
The 530d fuel consumption readout and actual consumption measured brim to brim is pretty much the same, give or take a fraction. It's a manual - which helps - and the roads I drive on are pretty much devoid of traffic so there's little stop/start. Conversely, the lack of traffic and interesting roads means The Beast gets well exercised... with a voracious thirst to match.

No trip computer. I play "guess the fuel level" with the most inaccurate fuel gauge ever fitted to a car.

Is that your MPG or a pic you have found on the net?

What car is it, you've not filled in the garage section on your profile?

Looks like a MK2 Golf dash?

Only car I've ever owned with an Oil Temp reading.

If so the MPG is written in pure fiction.

It's my Mk2 Golf 16v. And yes, they are notoriously inaccurate.

Norwich to Berkshire - eco-drive ended when I joined the M25. Originally it was pushing 70 if I remember correctly.

In the hidden OBC is the lifetime fuel economy of the car. 12 years old and just over 64k miles, it spent the first 9 years/30k miles of its life in central London. With that in mind, I'm surprised it's as high as it is.

102 means 10.2l/100km, which works out at roughly 27.6mpg

My Fiat Grande Punto brim to brim normally reads 45-48. Not bad seeing the official figures are 40-42 biggrin

I do do about 5 miles stuck at about 55 ish though. so that would help.

I feel a straight 6 coming onbiggrin

28.4 over the past 1500 miles or so from my GTI. Not to bad that's been pretty much all in town with the occasional cross country blast driving

Highest I've seen is 40 on a long motorway slog up north with cruise set to the speed limit.

Golf 4 GT TDI PD130. Figure is over 522.6 miles of mixed driving. Of course, this is a VAG trip computer and therefore about as honest as a politician, but it is still a genuine 52 mpg.
