Speed Matters - Not Anymore Apparently?!?

As an aside, I've just done 1,500 miles in the UK in my French registered car. No matter how hard I tried, not one radar flashed, from Portsmouth to Mersea island, from Norfolk to the Derbyshire Dales, from Caernarvon to Bridgnorth and from Nuneaton to Portsmouth again. I think I managed a commendation note in an average speed area - if even those work - but not once did I get flashed, and as for the stories of the police in Wales, we saw but one police car and despite radar warning signs everywhere there are few cameras, and they didn't go off either. Happy days!
I have a little note that says 'Parking Fine', which I thought was nice of them.Mr Gear said:

However some remember when the site had a levity to it (and far fewer adverts and pop-ups) and wearing a Pistonheads T-Shirt with "School of Speed" or "Speed matters" was amusing. Forgive me for picking on your post but there's a gulf of difference between an amusing tag line and condoning reckless driving. Your remark about speeding really goes unsaid.
You are quite right, and I am aware of the distinction, but advertisers will be wary of this tag-line, and there is a boy-racer element who won't get it either.Ah, mpg; in my diatribe above I forgot to mention that for much of the journey from Norwich to the Peak District we were on a single lane carriageway stuck in traffic and overtaking, even if possible, was a waste of time, so stuck for the main part at 50/60 mph. Imagine my surprise when on arrival at our B&B I found that, on a Merc C Class diesel estate auto, we had, according to the trip computer, (which of course is optimistic) averaged 72.9 mpg. At least some things have advanced in this modern age.

True, but not the greatest strapline ever:-PistonHeads
Because averaging 72.9mpg in an automatic diesel estate matters

This plus the proliferation of adverts certainly signals the beginning of the end. It's a shame but all good things come to an end. It appears Haymarket are going to slowly kill the site.
I got a lovely advert next to your post about adverts Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
