Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta - looks cool, but any good?
Discussion
Just gauging some opinions regarding the Vred Ultrac Sessanta. Looking for 225/45 R17s for the E36 (I'm sure they were 69 last week!). Other alternatives include Hankook Ventus and Kumho KH31s.
Reviews seem variable and road noise appears to be a common issue but wondering on any PHer's opinions/experiences especially in view of the aggressive tyre pattern.
TIA

I have them and think they are great and would eaisly have them again but looked about to see what else is available but after reading the below will be sticking with them, quite good as they have been out a good few years.

Got them on the back of my RX8, very pleased with them. A huge improvement on the ditch finders that were on the car before, but that's not saying much. Quite a bit of road noise though, but the extra grip is worth it.
The tread is a bit odd in that it's not directional, so it looks as though one side is on incorrectly!

Had them on my 9-3 Aero a few years ago and they were fantastic in the wet; brilliant in the dry. Only thing that rankled me was they are not directional and only have one pattern; so when they were applied to one side of the car (correctly) it looked as if they were facing the wrong way, if that makes sense. However their performance regardless is outstanding for the money.
I'd have had them on my 645 if I could have found proper sizes for the rears.

I ran them on my old.VXR. Wet or dry with the TC turned fully off, and the car running 290bhp I could never unstick them, even from a standing start. A bit of slip through first and then they just gripped and never stopped gripping. AND they did 15k miles as well. Really good, can't recommend them enough.
Great tyre, ran a few sets on my ST220 - value for money wise nothing else came close. My only criticism is that they go through a period of being less grippy in the wet around the point where they wear onto the lower section of the tread pattern - if that makes sense. But great tyres.

Got the Vorti on the front of mine and they're very good; even more so for the money. They certainly outgrip the Pirelli's on the rear anyway...http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Tyre/Vredestein/Ultra...
