A road sweeper's started parking outside our house
Discussion
haha no it's just a laugh with the pictures and that. I don't mind it for a few weeks as if it's temporary and someone working nearby then fair enough. There is some major roadworks about a mile away where they're replacing a mains water pipe up a main road, so it could be that. When that finishes if it does turn out to be a permanent thing then (& unconnected) yes I will do something about it.

Buy my beater. Park in front of your house. Job jobbed!
Worst case, do this....Best case, call the company that operates the vehicle and have a conversation. I had this problem before and it was a nightmare. The mentality really bugged me, since a number of van drivers in my street decided that it was better to park outside my house rather than their own - block my light rather than have the eyesore outside of their house! Anyway, the worst culprit was someone from the local electricity company. Didnt think too much about it but heard from a neighbor that they had complained - electricity company takes it VERY seriously and offered to make recommendations to the driver. Hey presto, van moved and parked elsewhere.
However, it does disturb me that this is the new trend. Why park company vehicles in secure compounds when you can have them littered around the housing estates of the country? Why? I have heard a number of reasons, but most come down to crime - its cheaper, easier and more secure to have them parked on the street outside peoples houses. Compounds are constantly raided and the costs are huge. Madness I know, but its the modern world.

And then people would start moaning if everyone on callout started taking an extra hour to get anywhere as they had to drive the opposite way first to pick up a works vehicle.Madness I know, but its the modern world .

They will take one look at the e-mail and sweep it under the carpet.
Not if the OP takes this up with the appropriate licensing authority they won't. That will have the desired effect. Up to the OP. These heavy machines cannot legally be parked inappropriately on the road for any length of time and cerainly not continuosly. The firm will be held responsible.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
