Guy in his forties swung into empy car park, banged it up the kerb, left it perched and got child out and wandered off! No inconvenience, but made the old teeth itch!

Given the vehicle that plate is on, I'm kind of surprised that the owner hasn't put a couple of yellow caps on the 8, as I'm sure that plate is meant to be a lame arse attempt at Racer laugh

Which ones, Vauxhalls or BMWs? Mine has an electric hand brake, it holds fine, but you can't use it for hill starts.
I was referring to the Vauxhall, I've seen a few references to them failing as the car cools down after a journey
Didnt the "Picasso" suffer the same problem some years ago? Maybe not an electric brake, but a failure as the drums cooled = same result.

Late bump on this one but experienced what I presume was a Vauxhall Insignia electronic handbrake 'fail' a couple of years ago.

Parked up in a cinema car park which was on on a slight hill. Came back from watching the film to find an Insignia parked in the rear bumper of my car. Started to fume and went to move the car when I realised what may have happened and sure enough as I moved the car forward a smidge, the Insignia followed. Being the thoughtful chap I am, I left a note under the windscreen, chocked one of the wheels with a brick, and notified security.

How can you tell? (If it's that it is white, is this not normal in Germany?)
Yes you are right, colour is identical, however the clue is in the stickers. It does get a bit indepth now so no hard feelings if you go to the TL;DR version. biggrin

The basic premise of the stickers was: Tax sticker, which you can see on the plate, goes on both plates then the AU (emissions test) sticker would go on the front plate and the HU (MOT equivalent) would go on the back. AU and HU stickers would be different colours depending on which year the retests are to be taken and would also display the month in which this should happen. This procedure was changed a few years ago so that AU and HU now happen at the same time. Thus only one sticker is needed which needs to go on the back so that the coppers can relatively easily check whether your MOT has expired. This leaves you of course with one plate with one sticker, which should go on the front.

TL;DR version:

tax sticker should go on front plate, tax and MOT sticker need to be displayed on the rear plate.

Thanks for explaining that FW.

I doubt anyone in UK knew any of that.

Not sure if it's just me, but whenever I see a car parked like that I'm really tempted to give it a good shove.
Note: I have never actually given a car parked like that a good shove

To be fair that space looks like it would be a bugger to get into with the pillar and the armco

fair play to the police van. There are no barricades at all to stop people walking or driving onto that fresh concrete pour. Candidate for the knob thread to the construction crew involved....
