Same as those who "PARK" in pick up points in supermarkets. Usually when there are spaces anyway, but a little further to walk.

Not just supermarkets. They do it at the Gym as well... Wouldn't want to get too tired walking an extra 20 feet to the door I guess.

UPDATE: Owners of badly parked cars in Trowbridge both booked

TWO cars parked opposite each other brought Trowbridge town centre to a standstill today for an hour, with buses and other vehicles unable to drive along Silver Street.

The two cars, with disabled badges displayed, were parked virtually opposite each other since 11.40am today, causing huge jams and frustration amongst residents waiting for the bus.

Police said later that both drivers had been issued with fixed penalty notices for obstructing the highway.

Kenneth Williams, who works at DK Residential in nearby Church Street, said earlier: “There has been traffic stuck outside for at least 20 minutes and there are two cars with disabled badges causing the problem.

“They have parked so it is virtually impossible for anyone to get by and the buses cannot get through.

"Everyone is getting very frustrated and the police are there, but there is not much they can do until the owners return.”

The build-up of traffic was only easing just before 12.30pm.[url]

Good. Booked? Throw the fking book at them, I say. Disabled badges withdrawn too, for misuse. I'm heartily sick of seeing blue badges displayed in cars that are atrociously abandoned wherever the selfish halfwit driving it feels like. I'm sure at least half these idiots are misusing the badges without the badge holder present too.

And before anyone tries the 'flaming' trick - I'm registered disabled myself... tongue out

Blue badges allow parking where some restrictions are in place for the rest of the driving public, but they are NOT a license to do as you feckin' well please. Badge holders take note!

I don't know the road, but presumably only the second driver was the moron causing the obstruction?

Sticks.

Which would have been evident from the time-clock they'd have to use with the BB.

I don't see how both can be booked.

Looking at that street on Street View it is clear that although both sides of the road have double yellows it also has road markings that indicate the main through path as opposed to a 'parking' area.

https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@51.3209306,-2.20590...

Parking on the right as shown in Street View would not normally be causing an obstruction.
Parking opposite definitely would.

So I'd also say that in the original image the red Ford is deserving of the ticket, but not the other car.

ASDA car park, our family bus parked next to the trolley area in a semi deserted car park. Some moronic cock, ignores all the empty bays and put his white van there, forcing my wife to climb in through the boot, all through the car to the drivers seat so that she could move it forwards to get out 5 year old in!
He was lucky I was at work at the time.
Ive just started reading this thread and for the life of me do not see the problem with the van, considering the size difference he has parked far better than the car !!! Lucky the husband was at work? Whys thats then?

Been parked there for 2 hours. Lots of parking on the road but must park there for some reason (right next to crossing, double yellows, buses turning).

Normal spaces at least a 15 second walk away
Has anyone else noticed that the drivers of this type of badly parked car, a four seater cab with a truck on the back, are poor drivers?
In my rural locale there are hundreds of these things charging about, thirty something serial speeders driving too fast on single lane country roads, burning through town centres, (showing off?) etc..

Please slow down.

Sorry, not strictly BP, but I would suggest, related.

Given the distance from the van to the line v distance from car to white line, why is it parked better?

Anybody who parks and purposely blocks someone in like that is an idiot, also as stated ignoring other spaces.

Plus van it taking two spaces up as well. ok vans are long we know.

Vipers has it spot on. The van isn't parallel in the bay and has purposely made it difficult for the S-max occupant to get in.

The van driver is a wrister.

Van is just trying to park correctly, what this pic demonstrates is what I have been saying all along. the spaces are not big enough. Van driver is doomed either way, parks in between 2 spaces. you lot moan, parks in between the lines, you still moan. Knowing the size of the Ford and the spaces, if anything the Ford is not dead centre of parking lines, therefore, this is the result.
Note to Supermarkets and whoever else is in charge of parking lines, MAKE SPACES BIGGER.

Van is off parallel by all of 2". So if the car had parked after it would be fine? The reason I said parked better is that due to its width the other wheels are prob just as near the white line, or do you sad guys with nothing else to moan about think this is one of those really rare very thin white vans. End of story car driver couldnt park in the middle of her space so dont moan about having to go thru the back doors !!! Shame hubby wasnt off work, he could have taught her how to park

The van is badly positioned.
