Granted, the camper is slightly encroaching, but it's not the Jag's overhang that was the issue; the issue was the angle they "parked" at, since that car park is one-way, approach to that space would've been from the right, and the width of those spaces means they're most definitely not suitable for a car of that size, especially when the dozy of a driver can't park properly!
Couldn't agree more!Geekman said:

Or people could think more about what they use the car for before they buy.
You're seriously saying you wouldn't buy a particular car because it stuck out a bit at the end of a parking space? People in this thread are weird.....Geekman said:

I'd be very surprised if people don't take it into account when considering a new car particularly a car that's much bigger than average. Most cars fit all parking spaces perfectly well. Personally I certainly wouldn't buy a big car if there was no good reason too, but if I needed to then I wouldn't blame the car park design if it didn't fit the spaces.

I called you a clown - and I'll stick by that. Suggesting that people should buy their mode of transport purely to fit in parking-spaces is foolish in extremis, what about carrying the family, comfort, cruising ability on a long trip, restricted company car choice and so on and on. Implying that some is foolish for not meeting your criteria could also be viewed as the act of a quite unpleasant person. Have a good day
You can get all of those things in a car that fits perfectly well in a regular parking space. It's not necessary to be rude to people just because you're on an anonymous forum. You should be able to make your point politely.herewego said:
I suppose it's personal choice but choose a car that won't fit a typical parking space or choose one that will, which choice is weird?

I'd say most modern saloons don't actually fit parking spaces perfectly well - that XF is by no means a big car compared to a lot of cars on offer today. Obviously, if a car was so vast it required two spaces I'd probably avoid it, but I couldn't care less if it sticks out a bit, and I doubt 99.9% of people could either.Parking a car is a daily activity for drivers. I'm all for laughing at idiots who park over two disabled spaces, or park over someone's drive, but a lot of the criticisisms in this thread seem unduly harsh and unrealistic to me.

An XF is the same size as an E-Class, 5 Series, etc. - not what I would describe as a big car.Parking a car is a daily activity for drivers. How do we know what the owner uses it for? Maybe for 90% of the time they are up and down the motorway network and this is the rare occasion that they need to park it in a supermarket car park.
Regardless, the Jag is inconsiderately parked (not for the overhang) and so is that horrible old relic in front of it.

S-Class, 7 Series, A8, GL, Q7, Range Rover, Phantom.
I wouldn't describe the E-Class or 5 Series as small, but they're not that big!
Weirdly a L322 range rover has the same footprint as a E60 5 series, yet due to the height people think they are longer/wider than they really are. The new RR is just over the top though, especially as it's got a smaller boot :/I wouldn't describe the E-Class or 5 Series as small, but they're not that big!

Walking the dog last night, I came across a van parked smack-bang on the zig-zags of a crossing.
No phone (it was dark anyway) so no pic - however as I walked along, there's a Police car coming towards me - so I flag him down
"That van is illegally parked"
"No our problem - you need to contact the council"
"No I don't - the council can't issue tickets for that - it's your job"
"I think I know what my job is Sir"
So it's a simple question, I have his badge number, do I report him or will I just get the same line from Police HQ in that they "can't be bothered to enforce the law"??
