Not so much bad parking, as badly getting out of a parking space. It was a bit of a while ago, but I parked my bike in a bay (no specific motorbike parking) and popped into the shop.

As I was coming out of the shop, a woman said to me "Is that your motorbike outside, 'cause if it is some women just reversed into it.

Not just nudged it over, but pushed it about 12 to 18 inches along the tarmac. Damaged engine casing, fairing, exhaust, and handlebar end.

I ride a bike and find your parking abysmal. Taking up what is a full space for a car is just inconsiderate and selfish. I have never once felt the need to take up a 'CAR' space when any old bit of pavement to the side would be fine.

If you have a bike and you place it neatly out the way, I would say it is. Certainly a lot more considerate than taking up a car space.

Sorry to hear.
Did you recreate the 'before' picture or do you always take pictures of your bike when you park?

I don't ride a bike but where I live parking one anywhere but in a marked bay is a quick way to a fine. A lot of the time they have to be parked in car bays.

I photographed it after I picked it up.

How many photos on here are of cars parking on pavements? This supermarket must be one of the only supermarkets I know with no dedicated parking spaces for motorbikes.

And how exactly do you park a motorbike on a three foot wide pavement so that it is "out of the way"? Unless you are being sarcastic.

I would just go for the common sense approach and park it as far away from an open space such as that one........

Shoot me but at least my bike isn't lying on its side.

The black car driver thought my car would be a great resting place!! Over a foot from the curb, bald front tyres and window left open.....some village has been deprived of their idiot!

Common sense dictated that I'd leave it in a space where it could easily be seen. You'd think that parking in a space in a half empty(full?) car park, ANY driver would notice a bike in that space, as it is adjacent to the entrance/exit. The driver simply drove off without having the courage to wait around or leave details to admit they done it.

It seems I was in the wrong here, not the myopic and cowardly driver.

Why? Are car drivers more important or something?

I presume the Volvo belongs to the owner of the cafe as it's always here and seems to follow a series of similar 4x4s that have parked on the pavement on this corner. However this time they have taken offence to the cones placed along the length of the road and pushed three forwards so that they can park on the "Keep Clear" markings. It was easier to see from the other direction but the quality of the photo from my dashcam was even worse than this effort.

I believe one of the co-owners of the place is a local councillor, this could well be her car.

Not really, but if you park a car on the pavement it takes up a whole lot more space. wink

Please explain that to Manchester City Council. Only time I got a parking ticket was for a motorbike on a really wide pavement while I nipped into a shop to collect something I had pre-ordered.

Really makes me panic seeing half of these. I park at the far end when I go shopping and the past 3 times have had an old van park 3 inches from my door, a newish white bmw 1 series beside my passenger door - I decided it was because both our cars looked very clean and I had some horrible rust bucket park an inch or 2 away from my door full wheel lock as well, so he would have been close to hitting me. This is with parking centre of the bay at the very back of the supermarket no other cars nearby.

A guy crashed into me side on in stationary traffic and is lying to the insurers that I was over taking the car in front and merged into his lane, I'm a nervous wreck with my car now, a total nervous wreck frown.

I'm going to pick up a quality dash cam, but that won't help with people dinging my car at a car park!!!

Get a camera front and rear. (Each side, too, if you are really paranoid!). Ensure they are not too obvious (theft risk). Leave them running while you are parked.
