Oh they CAN - parking restrictions apply to the road, verge and pavement - basically everything 'upto a property' or 'upto private land' - and parking on pavements CAN be handled under the Road Traffic Act too (because that uses the Highway Code as it's guide IIRC?)

Reality is that the Police don't 'do parking' anymore and wardens (usually local auth. or private) are told exactly what to ticket based on getting max results with minimal chance of appeals - no 'chancer' tickets which might cost more to defend than earn.
He ownes the pier, other than driving over a pavement its his private property?
There is even a dropped kerb for access by vehicles. Sorted.

So if you drive your car onto the path to park it what possible grounds for appeal could you have?

I'm adding these purely because tts parking inconsiderately in our apartment block cause the inhabitants of 5 apartments (me in particular) a real headache for getting to their designated parking spaces - which costs £30 a month in addition to the renting costs of the apartment.

Not only that, but parking is plentiful and dirt cheap in Altrincham, so there's no excuse.

So, HC Lloyd, you can afford a Jaguar XF R and a rather poncey numberplate, but you can't afford manners or £2 to park all day just a couple of minutes walk away and would rather inconvenience the people who actually do pay to live in the apartments. I think that makes you a cock.

I saw that same car at the big sainsburys/John Lewis near Cheadle on Tuesday evening - his tyre was knackered (so he said) and he was blocking the air line for a woman for ages while he had a natter on his phone. I had a word to encourage him to move along so someone else could use the air line.

He did seem to be a bit special...

Or is the Van having something fitted by the We Fit team where they ask you to park near the door?

If you looked like this, life might not seem so black and white.

Pity the fool.

Busy pub car park on a Friday night. (I'd let the Focus off by the way - the spaces are ludicrously small - but not so small you need to park across three of them).

Not a 4x4 this time and he at least decided to do this at the far boundary of the car park. Still a knob.

Popped down to the local garden centre this morning and when I returned to the car this had been dumped just in front of me.

TBH that only really annoys me when it is busy. If the car park is mostly empty and they are there for a short visit thats ok in my book.

Although it doesn't inconvenience anyone in those circumstances it demonstrates a selfish attitude and if it's quiet there's no need for it anyway.

Agree, but those who do that usually do it all the time.

I dont think its okay at all, it takes the same amount of time to turn into a proper space as it does to swing it in the middle of two spaces, just special moron types can't judge where their car will end up once they've attempted to pull in. Mugs
