Good, I've done similar at work in our cleary signposted customer parking area to people who aren't visiting us, I don't block them in but I make it very difficult for them to a) get in their car and b) get their car out.
Normally I'd agree (search earlier for the photo of the large trucks making a perfect square around a parked car - perfect) but in this case I'd expect a GP to appreciate the stress the patient was suffering and to have dealt with the matter in a less confrontational way.

Annoyied at myself for clicking and reading that, but I did. The article repeatably says that the old chap was left shivering in the cold for hours. Can someone explain to me why he was left shivering when he could have either sat in the surgery or sat in his own car with the engine running? Pure Daily Mail rubbish.

Two points:
  • The car seems to be currently without a valid MoT.
  • Is it not illegal to block in cars in this way, since the change in clamping legislation?

Agreed!

That said, the GP should have defused the situation and moved her car... There's no benefit to being named and shamed like that, I'd imagine there's some awkward conversations with the LHA today.

Another from the Mail, but I think she handled this exactly the right way.

But I'm also willing to bet it wont stop him doing the same in the future.

Once more, as in the case of the G.P., above, her action is understandable but :
  • she is acting unlawfully by detaining the recalcitrant driver's car
  • her car is parked on double yellow lines
  • her car appears to be obstructing the pavement.
Is it not correct that the police could, if they wished, have taken action against her, while being unable to do anything about the driveway parkers ("Civil matter, madam")?

Must be a VIP (very important prick).

And this one, I usually park there, reverse in wheels millimetres from the kerb, maximising space between me and the car next to me. This is to at least get one side and the back of my car protected.

And so shall we be if our precious car is sideswiped by a JCB.

Why on earth just deploy a yellow peril at school times, and dish out some £60 fines.

Bloody tards, first to moan if this causes their little cheeubs get hit.

I could name 5 regular places where zigzag parking occurs on bus routes I drive.
I have emailed the police/council and nothing gets done.
I do however see police drive past the offenders.

Question for the police officers on here- do you ever give FPN's for zigzag offences?

Parking on ZigZigs is, of course, not just a fine but also points on your licence - sadly, Plod sees parking as 'below them' and so it never really gets enforced.

This is because Plod is too busy waging war on everyone using statistics and filling-in for social workers at the lowest-end of scumbaggery...

Don't know what's worse. The bad parking or that someone doesn't know how to hold a phone the right way up.

Not sure what happened there, it's the right way up on my phone. Cheers for the flip. The car in question was taking up 2 parking spaces in a tiny car park, space 77 is the final one i think.
