Thanks for all the responses. It doesn't help that I didn't get a particularly clear picture of the exhausts in the bright Scottieh sunshine, but I could have fit my leg up there! They were so oversized and IMO definitely aftermarket. Even if they are Ford equipment it is "badly modified" - by Ford themselves!

Just noticed WR TUNING on the side http://wrtuning.co.uk so yes they probably are after market but the problem is most of them have had exhaust mods so there a very few standards ones about.

Bigger bore exhausts on 300bhp hot hatch backs is fine IMO, I think it's pushing it when it's on a 1.0L Saxo or Clio though.

Because that's a hot hatch and he drives a Cayman S, one the best handling cars I've ever driven?

But you'd like to think that people are aware of other great performance cars rather than just one that they drive?

I think Ford were doing a very good job of knowing their target market.

I think Ford were doing a very good job of knowing their target marke.

It's a turbocharged 5-pot though and thus any reduction in back pressure is going to be a good thing.

That assumes they are plumbed all the way through at that bore (unlikely).

Since when does owning a Porsche make you more of a petrol head than most? It's usually the complete opposite.

How? Car you own/drive has no relation to the size of your petrolheadedness in my mind. Driving a cayman S don't mean st to me if your not even aware of a Focus RS. Just screams poser not petrolhead

I know it is a Focus RS. I was just trying to make a jokey comment that wherever those exhaust pipes have come from (aftermarket or OEM), the person who put them on has "badly modified" the car. Obviously this wasn't articulated well. Also, if I've touched a nerve with some of you who own / like cars like this then I apologise.

To the chap who tried to defend me, thank you for your good intentions, but I don't see my car as a car that makes me any more or less in love with cars than any of the other members on here. We all love cars - that's why we're here

Yes feeling guilty now for my wrong forum comment, I do now agree that they are non standard exhausts but unfortunately the RS is the car I'd own
