My friend recently bought a Polo.

He bought coilovers and I knew it would go downhill from there.

It now looks like this. banghead

Why would anyone want the Polo like this?

EDIT- Its cause of the "Stance innit bruv!"
As much as I hate stanced cars, that polo is not stanced, it's lowered, there is a difference
Whatevs.

I'd have thought anyone that uses "whatevs" would be the sort to defend the differences between stance and lowering wink

Quite.

That Polo doesn't have ridiculous wheels that don't fit properly.

Has this made an appearance yet? I think there's a 350Z somewhere underneath all that. hehe

I think it has.

I kind of like it in and of itself, ignoring the fact that it's trying to be something else.

The Maser and Porsche badges aside, that looks pretty good!

Do you not think the rivets, bonnet vents and I think LEDs are all a bit OTT?
I like the "because race car" look, I like riveted on arches, but here they're not working, because it's trying to look sleek at the same time as looking racey which doesn't work and it's trying to look functional but it's trying to LOOK functional. Big wings and arches are great when they're that way because it's the cheapest or lightest or best way to go faster but not when it's done for the looks.

Yeah, but 'a bit OTT' is nice every once in a while, one reason I like Lamborghinis. 'Reserved and unassuming' also has its place. I like the sci-fi look and feel of it, it's a bit cartoonish/caricaturish without becoming a stance scene cliché. It looks like a transformer in its disguise hehe

This is where you get into the tricky area of actually it's a well executed modification/alteration (compared to say that abortion of a Zonda replica a while back), just maybe in questionable taste to some - does that mean it is "badly modified"?

The Banham just looks like a badly built Banham kit car; they aren't TT replicas (they pre-date the TT iirc) that should be in the badly built kit cars thread.

Saw it on eBay earlier on and an Internet search sent me to this thread! Looks similar to an autotune Gemini.

That is a pukka 1960s special, not an MR2 Ferrari lookalike. So it's got mildly flared arches, a big roll bar and a slightly unattractive scoop to cover the FIAT twin-cam - not bad enough to be called a badly modified car.

You can buzz around in this for "only" £17500

Probably more a case of bad styling rather than badly modified
