Is everyone saying that the MX5 isn't that bad simply because it belongs to a ph'er? Would this thread even exist if all the cars featured were owned by members on here?
Wouldn't give a st if it was David Coverdale's car. Looks terrible, maybe not "badly modified" but in poor taste for sure. Too many dreadful additions to list, so i'll just point out the good bits:
The wheels are nice.
Yes, really like those rims

Richards car looks ace IMO and certainly doesn't belong in here

Which part of it is badly modified?
The headlight tints looks stupid on a monochrome car, same as the solid black bonnet with a disruptive pattern in grey/black - it should have been continued on the bonnet. The wing is a tad large to be considered tasteful, but that doesn't bother me too much.
I think the headlights look great against the monochrome car, really pops and adds a splash of colour, I think the pattern over the bonnet would have been too much, agree on the wing I duno why BGW's are all the rage all of a sudden
There's nothing wrong with a splash of colour on a monochrome car, but in this instance it just looks inconsistent. If, say everything followed a pink theme, or a turquoise theme, then it would fit. As it is, no. It looks like the local chav motor factors was raided for stick-on anodised bits and stickers and he just bought whatever was in stock.
I think the stickers on the windscreen that match the headlights ties it all in quite nicely
But then it's got a red anodised intake, a pink anodised tow ring and a couple of pink anodised bobbins on the wing and bumper (which look like they're supposed to be a bonnet latch, but unless some major work has been done to actually make a front clamshell while still retaining the look/shutlines of a bonnet and wings, do absolutely fk all, adding to the air of "crashed through the chav aisle of Halfords").

Looking at the picture again, the fact that the main body is matt (a wrap, I assume) yet the bonnet is gloss, and then the hardtop is solid black but also matt instead of gloss, it's just AAAAARRGH! Put some fking thought in. If either the bonnet was matt black to match the roof, or the roof was gloss black to match the bonnet, then again it would tie some of the elements together. At the moment it's all over the place.
My 5yr old likes it if that counts for anything

They are bumper quick release fixings.

I'd hazard a guess that it's been made-up to look post-apocalyptic for one of those tour/run things that i can't remember the name of. Meaning they're not supposed to be expertly done.
That doesn't mean i like it however biggrin

The picnic pallet is quite a nice touch.

Once upon a time there was a pretty young Lotus Excel who lived near a forest. One day it went for a drive and decided to take in the sights and smells of said forest. Unfortunately Old Duggart the blind bogeyman was laying in wait for the Lotus. He kidnapped it, stripped it and applied an exterior that only he could possibly find appealing.
Then he tried to flog it on Pistonheads under the dellusion that his poor taste was somehow worth £4000, and nobody lived happily ever after.

There's a long list of bad on that mx5, but that stickered over glass is by far the biggest crime. Wonder what the beak would throw at him I he had a SMIdSY mate, too bsy being scene innit moment?

Scene people also need to understand that taking off a plate and outing it on the dashboard is not an improvement in asthetica.

Not really badly modified, more of a bad starting point.
