I just don't get the whole performance pick-up thing myself. I can see the possible need for towing power, 4x4 and ground clearance but not something like this. I used to have a 2 litre Mazda pick-up and it was so light on the rear that braking from speed was bloody scary and that only had about 120 brake!

it is, in part, the sheer ridiculousness of it. I mean something weighing in at 2 1/4 tonnes getting up to over 140, 0-60 in 5.2 is fun.

saw a black 3 series yesterday, blacked wheels, grill, everything. the knobhead also removed the license plate and had it stuck to the inside of his windscreen on the passenger side.

He's fitted a narrowed front beam, the same way that the Beetle modifiers do.

It'll handle like a badly-maintained shopping trolley.

Its not really modified though. I suspect yellow rim is puncture, 2 on the back would mean burnouts.
2 1/4 tons? How heavy is the driver!

ooops apologieswhen talking about the 'performance pick-up truck' thing - I was thinking of one of these... roughly 2.25T

That belongs to a friend of a friend, the attention to detail on the restoration is great (it was a wreck to start with) but that front end just ruins the whole thing for me. I suspect it scores huge "scene points" though, for me I'd rather go around corners.
