Who thought cutting the roof off was a good idea ?

Rat Look 1967 Volkswagen Beetle by Zack S. Classic Cars, on Flickr

I don't really like the rat look, but it doesn't bother me so that's okay.
I think the negative camber is a bit silly, but I'll let it pass,
It's a bit low for my liking, but I made the assumption that it would be raised for driving.

Unfortunately, I saw it driving today and discovered my assumption was wrong. The usual Beetle sounds were overwhelmed by a horrible scraping, and hence I am now of the opinion that it is a stupid, stupid car.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.

Rear suspension is swing-arm, and therefore camber occurs naturally when lowered. It was not been deliberately enhanced for aesthetics.

Nothing wrong with those wheels either, Cosmics have been around for ages.

The Cayenne Cabriolet above, is that a bodykit on a Hyundai Santa Fe? Wheels look unPorsche.

I saw this hideous Merc in Uxbridge a while back:

Badged as an E63, whilst it's just an E220 CDI (LOL!)

The question is, why would you do this?
laugh

Fake designer goods sweatshop owner tries to convince the public that he drives an E63.

Parked on yellow lines obstructing an exit by the looks of it as well. What a tt!

I wouldn't really class that as rat look, it has a nice patina as opposed to rust holes. It's not my cup of tea, but I wouldn't say it's badly modified

Those are the standard wheels from the Cayenne Turbo when it was launched back in 2004/5. Hardly anybody had them with those wheels on, it was quite common for people to spec a Cayenne V6 with them on though as it was a cheap (and horrid) upgrade

Surely you mean swing axle? Anyhow, I didn't know that so thank you. It still looks stupid, though, so perhaps Beetles shouldn't be lowered. As for the wheels, I think Cosmics look quite nice.

Those rear axle tyres are going to scrub through in next-to-no time.
I would think that is the least of the owners worries. The fact that you are driving around in a giant pink dildo would concern me more.

I would call it patina, but surely patina implies originality and that originality is lost when a car is lowered massively and given some shiny alloys, hence why I'd call it a rat looker. I wouldn't have said it was badly modified, either, until I heard it driving around to the tune of an elongated 'scrk' sort of noise.

It might not be to your taste, but I still wouldn't say it's badly modified. Just looks like a lairy little sports car, like a mini Lambo. Fair enough if it'd been done to a Corsa, but I think it looks cool on that VX.

I dont mind that, i am a big fan of the VX220 anyway but i do agree the stickers are just not needed. As for the plate, i never class that as a mod, its more an indication of the drivers personality or lack of......

So not much more than a colour scheme change? Different people like different colours, get over it. Some people like brown cars, others don't. I like purple on a car, not many manufacturers give that option. My brother-in-law doesn't like yellow cars. Audi did a multicolored A1, with decals, it wasn't modified (obviously), some people liked it, I'm guessing others didn't.

A colour change is only a bad modification if it's carried out badly, not if you don't happen to like the colour.
