How is it an awesome idea to make a fkugly modification to an already unattractive vehicle when there are purpose built vehicles about that look a darn sight better & are probably more practical because they were designed to be the way they are?

Does anyone know why, or can anyone explain to me why people do this? Not only can it provide absolutely no benefit to the way the car drives, presumably destroys your tyres quite quickly, means you're unable to go over even the smallest bump in the road, and for the icing on the cake looks utterly preposterous.

I don't know if I'm just getting old and jaded with the car 'scene' but I simply don't get it.
