Talking of 2.7RSs, there's a rather nice video of one being used on Petrolicous this week...

Could someone please explain to me what it is with the E30 M3 that pushes prices up? I mean they made bloody 16000 of them!!!

It makes me cross that these enthusiast cars end up in the hands of collectors to be stuck in a garage for life and used as stocks and shares.

One other thing, who is it that actually starts this ridiculous price inflation? One dealer has to wake up in the morning and decide his cars are now worth 50k more than they were yesterday and the rest follow.

Maybe I'm bitter
Im guessing it being the first M car, best handling chasis, a proper drivers car & having consecutive wins in the touring car series & the evolution it started...just my 2pence

Here's a nice Bitter for you (going cheap).

http://www.autoscout24.ch/fr/d/bitter-coupe-1982-o...

Certainly cheaper than this late model Ferrari 412 (c/w log book signed by Enzo, allegedly)...

i just sold my CSL.
i believe there is a limit to how high they can go bearing in mind an e46 M3 can be bought for 10k

Are they unique enough?

im sure there is a porsche equivalent conmparision that destroys my arguement
But all air cooled porsches seem to be going up
RS or not!
And that's why I'm keeping mine, it is unique enough IMO, and as different from the E46 M3 as a 996 GT3 is from a C2. Also where does one go after a CSL without having to fork out large volumes of cash? CLK Black or 996 GT3/GT2 are all that would be on my radar I think as a possible replacement

Why specifically the 996 C4S and not just the 996?
The usual - rarer and better looking.

I was glad that CH used the one I sold him to build a rally car. Cars are built to be driven and if all you want to do is look at them, take a photo! I saw a super low mileage Evo last year, that now goes everywhere in a covered trailer when it isn't sat in a centrally heated garage. It just seems like a waste to me, but the price tag means the mileage needs to stay as it is. Even an average cars seem to start at £15k or higher. I know a couple of people looking though and they can't even find one for sale.

We've financed a handful of 360 CS over the last 6 weeks at c.£150-160k. They also seem to be getting snapped up by the trade for similar money. There is certainly a market for them amongst enthusiasts but at £200k I would have to say that this is probably going to be bought by a buyer who is new to the market - and there are plenty of them. I don't think "real" Ferrari people will pay that much for them - just yet..... they will be looking at cars in foreign markets which are that bit cheaper.

Or you could try this for £99,950.

The prices seem to be going up with each and every sale.....

LOL! Right on cue. This is joker again!

You were partially banned for trolling on CS threads and doing nothing but talking up your Gallardo. I own neither car (and I would love either), but you really are predictable. It's a little bit pathetic no?

911RS and the E9 CSL are a better comparison.

964RS & the E30 M3

993RS & the E36 M3 GT

996RS & the E46 M3 CSL

997.2 GT3RS & E92 M3 GTS

IMHO.
Your over thinking this hehe

That car has already sold actually mate. smile I think the days of £99,000 good LHDs might be over too...

LHDs are slowly climbing as well. You can't buy a decent one in Europe for less than EUR 100,000 these days. A year ago a good one costs about EUR 90,0000.

Bet when Ferrari goes the turbocharged route the effect will be even stronger.

It's madness. I was trying to get into a 997 GT3 Clubsport but all of my calculations were based on last year's prices and there's not a chance in hell I could own one now. Not to mention that all the cars have got far too low mileage to be usable.

As a result I bought something I really wanted, just because I really f*cking wanted it and have since I first saw it. I don't know if I "got in before the prices jumped" or just did something silly with my heart rather than my head but I do really really love my CSL. I think mine has too many miles for it to ever be worth silly £££ but at least that keeps it usable.

Not sure about the sentiments about why it's not special over and above the normal M3? The same could be said about Sport Evos but it's a fairly similar difference albeit for a slightly more limited production run.

I sadly sold my RS 4.0 a year or so ago.
Happily put the money into something that has gone
even more nuts than Car prices.
A house in London.
Although seriously, how much longer can the madness
go on for.

It wasn't the first M car...that was the E12 M535i (first with "M" badge) or more probably E9 CSL (first produced by Msport)...The first car with Mx designation was the E26 M1...the E28 M5 and E24 M635CSi were next THEN the E30 M3

All of the above are worth having and most are worth investing in (along with 2002 Turbo, also a defacto product of the M division) as all are appreciating in value.

I agree with the earlier post regarding the Z3M coupe...few made, especially in RHD and with the S54 (E46) motor, but you can still get the one of 150 odd produced for around £15-20k.

A couple of years ago a friend bought a Diablo SV with 30k on the clock for a shade over £80k and sold it a year later for £95k.
They're now demanding around £125k-£150k.
I wonder if these £125k cars will be reaching £200k in a year or so??
