I tend not to do that. So drives a £50k car and dives into a thread discussing an entirely different type of car that's considerably cheaper than his, saying it's st by comparison? Well it would be wouldn't it? I can only hope that a 911 turbo owner dips into your cayman thread to tell you your car is wk and maybe you'll understand.
Except it isn't st, which is why he and his ego are in every Golf R thread. wink

Not sure why you wouldn't? Anyway it isn't st by comparison just has a differing set of qualities, people might not like AWD 4 pots but that doesn't make them rubbish.

I think Cayman/boxster range is overrated, I used to get them as loan cars when I had a 911 C2S and for me that was far better.

I now have a 335d so I'm quite glad the R has taken over the mantle of being the whipping boy/fastest car ever. hehe

I have a feeling a lot of these people in this thread haven’t driven the Golf R yet.
Incidentally those are the exact same people who get their opinions from videos and reviews the internet.
It’ll be interesting to see how the comments change once the lord of these people, Chris Harris himself, posts his review of the Golf R in the next weeks. tongue out

Maybe some will, but there are some people who would never be interested in a 1500kg AWD hatchback costing £35k. I don't understand why that is an illegitimate view to take.

Is PH now really just a place to wk over the latest power figures on a VAG product? I am sure that there are websites full of much younger people who would enjoy that.

I have no interest in buying a Golf R in the same way as I have no interest in a Caterham - the things that it does well do not interest me enough to outweigh the downsides from my own perspective and needs/wants.

Imprezas, Integrales and Cosworths are great cars, but they are for rally geeks and chavsters.
The most depressing thing I've read in a while. Just remember this though no one will care or remember the golf R in twenty years time but people will still be talking about the other 'chav' legends.

Poster 2: How can you say that when haven't tried this Ice watch. It's the best there ever has been in the entire big wide world. You're only saying that because you can't afford one. Your opinion's irrelevant anyway because you only have a Casio...Oh, you have an Omega? Well it's still irrelevant. - Posh bcensoredd.

It is a completely legitimate view IMHO.

However some might argue that, if that is your view, getting involved in a discussion about these vehicles is an unusual way to behave.

Fair point, to an extent, but since when has PH been about saying good things about cars? biggrin

Even the GT86 got slated. Constructive criticism...

Can't deny that laugh surely if you post here you should expect people to be awkward!

It does seem like there have been a lot of very similar threads about this particular model, which perhaps isn't helping.

well seeing as you are going to so much trouble to annoy people, it's the least i could do to oblige. If you honestly have the amount of time on your hands it must take to visit every thread about a car you don't like and airpunch when people get annoyed at you then crack on. You'll be off in the Audi threads soon saying the interiors are bland or something soon enough. Seriously though this "jeez grow up" response is stupid isn't it, because in deliberately being contrary this is exactly the sort of response you wanted, surely?

nobody said that though did they? Everyone knows a fking Golf is not as good as a Porsche, it just doesn't really need saying does it? So a Porsche owner pissing all over some quite happy Golf owners is more than a bit crass and a dick move, IMHO.

I didn't piss on anything or provoke anyone. I discussed a car. You need help.

Fully agree. Especially when the threads are full of people claiming it's a game changer, when actually, it's just VW finally joining the game, after 3 generations of fairly whelming R models.

I suppose its the first VW "R" with the performance to back the badge up, they always, in the past seemed like the car that you bought when your wife/mum/neighbours/ego couldnt stomach something Japanese and rallyesque, an Evo/Impreza for the middle classes, it has now gone full circle and
Subaru and Mitsubishi have been caught napping and the Golf is actually marginally quicker, but it doesnt quite seem the same for some reason, but
not bad for £299 a month to be fair.

Reviews seem to think otherwise but I guess they've actually driven the car so don't know anything smile

It's not even about the car i think. It takes more than one person to discuss, otherwise it's just talking out loud to no-one. A discussion tends to involve different views, however you didn't expect a reaction to the view you gave? Were you just hoping to be backed-up by hundreds of others? Didn't really happen though did it?

You've not driven the car, you've made a load of assumptions, you've dipped into a largely positive thread to try and get a reaction (basically it can be summed up as "you're all dicks and i know best, that thing you like is st and mine's better), and got upset when you got one. There's always one it seems, every thread, every forum, the whole of the internet. Not quite a troll, but definitely on that spectrum.

It's hard not to rise to people who do it, but I will try. So, by all means carry on talking to no-one. You might need help if you carry on though.
